Since today is the feast day of Saint Ignatius I thought it might be a good time to thank all with whom I share being in the Jesuit/Holy Cross/Crossports community. As my grandmother said quite often: "Sorrow shared is sorrow divided. Happiness shared is happiness multiplied." May you all have a good day today and thanks to St Ignastious for what he did to help us reach this point.

Same to you. That it's the feast of St. Ignatius is appropriate. Two days ago my uncle Jack, aged 93, passed away. He and my father were two of eight young children when their father died. There were not the social safety nets of today, and they depended on neighbors and the church (this was in Melrose, MA) for their survival. Everyone one of the eight became a success. Jack, through generous benefactors, attended BC High, BC undergrad, and BC Law School (yes, he teased me when I went to HC). He became a very successful and wealthy corporate lawyer. He never forgot the help he received and spent his retirement donating to programs that helped students achieve access to Catholic school, and to fund seminarians, and other good causes. The feast of St. Ignatius is an appropriate day to appreciate the countless good things the church has done through the years, sometimes very quietly.

Well said. May his soul rest in peace and may you continue to share the good memories you have of your Uncle.
