Padres have reportedly acquired Josh Hader from Brewers for Taylor Rogers, rhp Dinelson Lamet and two prospects (lhp Robert Gasser and of Estuery Ruiz).
Talk about a tale of two parts of the season for Hader. From the start of the season through June 6th, he pitched in 19 games, 17 and 2/3 innings and gave up only 4 hits and 4 walks with 0 runs (0.00 ERA) and 28 Ks and 18 saves. From June 7th through July 29th, he pitched in 18 games and 16 and 1/3 innings and gave up 22 hits, 6 walks and 16 runs and earned runs (8.82 ERA) with 31 Ks and 11 saves.
Obviously the Padres hope they got the early season Hader.

Yankees get RHP Scott Effross from the Cubs. Never heard of him but his numbers are good out of the bullpen and he’s under team control for 5 more years.
Effross, 28, isn’t a household name but has been outstanding since the Cubs promoted him for his Major League debut in 2021. The sidearming righty has tallied 58 2/3 innings as a big leaguer to date and posted a 2.91 ERA with a 28.8% strikeout rate, a 5.1% walk rate and a 46% ground-ball rate.

As the dust settles, it seems the Yanks have done quite well at the trade deadline both with pitchers and a solid outfielder. Now what about the Mets?
