Welcome Taylor. Your cupboard is not empty. Also, when I clicked on the link to Zach Leach he has a fascinating bio. I hadn't been aware of him before. It shows Kit has a deep bench and he uses it.

Looks to be an major upgrade with this hire - she is only 26 yrs old and that might be a good thing - the release says she arrives after 3 yrs as an asst pro at Springfield CC - this has to be a part time job and I would imagine she’ll keep her other gigs

A major upgrade indeed. I like the combination of teaching and coaching experience. I know at least one member of the team is quite enthused about this hire. Go Cross.

She and Steve Napoli will get HC golf where they need to be. Looking forward to seeing these programs excel in next 1-3 years. Lots of talent in each program now, look for quick results.

I wonder if we're serious enough to announce a men's and women's incoming recruit class ?

There shouldn't be an inherent barrier to HC challenging for the PL championship unless schools having their own golf courses is too big a recruiting and practice advantage for us to overcome.
I have no way to judge that. But I bet a Chesney type coach could overcome that issue.

HC finished 80 behind Richmond who finished in second. Long way to go to be competitive.

BU's roster is almost exclusively accomplished Asian players - Navy/Army/Bucknell all have campus courses (Colgate as well but they don't sponsor W golf) - so those 4 schools plus Richmond are tough competition But I believe there are many excellent women players in the junior ranks and with a good coach we could close the gap very soon

Fwiw, neither Boston U nor Richmond has its own golf course. In fact, neither even uses a course in the city where they are located.

What is Colgate thinking, having a golf course and not offering wonen's golf? Perhaps they figure because they dropped baseball they are free to take a similar opportunity away from women?

Our superstar incoming player might be 16 strokes per round/ 48 strokes better than last year’s D player in a three round tournament. Now you are only 33 strokes behind. I realize it is more complicated than that, but you get the point. A couple stars can change everything

I have a friend whose daughter is a rising junior in high school and a future D1 golfer. Based on many conversations with him, it is my sense that we could field a pretty competitive women’s golf team pretty quickly if we put some effort into recruiting.

Yes....you need to get on the international level to get those.

What is excel in your mind? “Excel” means winning or in mix for PL Championships… the men’s team is right there with Emmerich, Egan (Owen) and new freshman recruits that Napoli got. Women’s team has talent on the roster and now has a coach to cultivate talent.

Many of the freshmen always come in with good resumes but once they tee it up, it is a different game in college where a couple of bogeys are the difference between sixth place and 20th.

With this hire we are waiting for one more coach to be hired, for women’s tennis which is another program long ignored which could use a major rebuild

In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, average spending on women's golf for BostU. Bucknell, Lehigh, and Loyola was $274,000. HC spent $54,000. Navy has a women's golf team, Army does not.

That figure for Loyola might refer to their men’s team since they do not sponsor women’s golf - it’s curious that AWP with their course and Loyola with a very strong men’s team do not support W golf

The PL average spending in fiscal 2021 for the three PL schools other than HC is $245,000.

That $54,000 is the allocation for accounting purposes. If you were to allocate fully other athletic department expenditures that benefitted the women's golf team the total would be closer to $54,400....
