Local RI news is reporting that the Dunkin Donuts naming rights is expiring and that Amica Insurance of Lincoln, RI has now gotten those rights. They are saying right now they don't know what the arena will be called (I would assume Amica Mutual Arena or some variation).
Amica's soon-to-be President and CEO will be my buddy Ted Shallcross, HC '95. Ted worked at KPMG and was the managing partner for them on my company's external audits while I was company liaison.
Very happy for Ted and for Amica which perhaps after CVS and Del's lemonade are "Rhode Island."

Impressive stuff from you presumably non-Ocean Staters. But, then again, maybe "you know a guy." (tip of the Hatlo hat* to '45 who hears me say this at least 4 times a year). * A tip of the Hatlo hat Ideas and gags usually came from suggestions by readers, who were credited with a small acknowledgment box with a tiny drawing of Hatlo tipping his hat. Hatlo continued working on They'll Do It Every Time until his death in 1963 when the team of Al Scaduto and Bob Dunn took over the strip. The readers continued to be credited for their suggestions, but the drawing of the "Hatlo hat" was dropped. After Dunn's death in 1989, They'll Do It Every Time was written and drawn by Scaduto, who died December 8, 2007, at age 79. King Features announced that the strip would not continue with another cartoonist and ceased publication on February 2, 2008.[3] At the time of Scaduto's death, King Features was distributing the panel to more than 100 American newspapers.[3]

Original artwork by Lil' Abner cartoonist Al Capp was on the walls of the Good Ship Madam Rhubarb nautical themed back room of the Hotel Vernon bar in Kelley Square in Worcester. I don't know if it survives.

Getting as bad as Great Woods, which has had a bunch of names over the years. How many people will continue to call it the Dunk vs Amica? One syllable is less than three

Amica is today based in Lincoln, RI in a large modern office building at the intersection of routes 295 and 146. It for a long time had previously been located in downtown Providence. Based on a recent trademark filing, it appears the arena will be named AMICA Mutual Pavilion.

One syllable is less than three I think this is the third name it has had after the original, the Dunkin Donuts Center and whatever Amica decides. The Steelers new name for Heinz Field is going to be Acrisure Stadium. No-one is going to call it that due to the brand name recognition of Heinz Field already. The Dunk will likely be similar.

It's still the Centrum to some. DCU and Amica are both non-profit, supposedly owned by their customers. That's where the money is.

The obvious shortened name is the AMP. But, given that Amica means Friend, perhaps they will tap into Providence’s mayoral history and call it the Buddy
