HOW IS THERE NOTHING ON GOHOLYCROSS.COM?!?!? I understand that it’s August, and that Togo passed away (early) on a Friday afternoon, but this man was one of the all-time great Crusaders. Someone should have been in the Sports Information office by dinner time yesterday, and had an appropriate recognition on the site no later than first thing this morning. This is just plain lazy, and shows a complete lack of respect for one of the College’s most loyal sons and for the legacy of Holy Cross basketball. Disgusting and inexcusable. The Celtics have tweeted (picked up by Yahoo Sports), the Worcester Telegram ran a story, and NJ.com has an article (although it references Togo’s attending Holy Cross University), yet here we are, more than three days after Togo’s passing, and we hear only crickets from Holy Cross and the HC Athletic Department. Horrible.

Charlie is certainly allowed a vacation, as are the others in the athletics communications section of the athletics department. The complaint was that HC had not issued a news release on Togo's death. Charlie is responsible for men's basketball, and he appears to be the only member of the athletic communications section of the Athletics Department who actually knew Togo. No one in this section is a graduate of Holy Cross, and other than Charlie and the Director of this section, the others have been at Holy Cross for two years or less. Perhaps, the athletics department pre-writes 'obits' for notable HC athletes, and can then issue an announcement fairly quickly. if not, it is likely the only person with a folder of information on Togo is Charlie Bare. Charlie did retweet an announcement of Togo's death.

No excuse...pre-write the story, connect to the web site from wherever he is, and post

They should have tributes pre-written for Cooz, Perry, sr., Blaney, Willard, etc. as well as photos and film clips ready to post.

In early May this year I had to have a pre-op physical for carpal tunnel surgery... my PCP was not available so I had another doc in the office who I have known for a long time. It also happened to be Togo's doc. Following the physical I asked him how Togo was doing... much to my dismay, he said that he should have died years ago with all the health issues he has had... I am pretty sure that doctor shouldn't be sharing information on a patient with anyone.

On a few occasions I have been present when Togo was holding court telling stories about the old days. I always enjoyed listening to those stories

Any decent "news" organization has such stories at the ready for countless pre-eminent public people - subject to on-going updates and editing. As another posted noted, Bare knew Togo - and likely knew his health situation to a degree. As such the Department should have had something ready to post.

There has always seemed to be a disconnect in some ways with the athletic office in terms of HC athletic history pre and post Patriot League. I realize this is a function of time as many who work there weren't born yet or were very young during the era of 1945-1980 or so. But most of our most notable athletic accomplishments on a national scale happened during that time period. They should, at the very least, be more aware of HC's athletic history during that era. I'll hang ug now and let you guys talk....

Just as the New York Times and other papers have obituaries already written for many notable persons, HC should have had ready a tribute for Togo, with videos of him playing, stats, old newspaper clippings, and a base story. Then when the sad event happens you add some quotes from those who knew Togo best.

Somewhat related I feel are the feelings I have had for some time that some at HC have viewed the athletic success post WW2 as more of a burden than something to be celebrated. I am not referring to anyone in the athletic department but to the admin and faculty.

Since Togo's death, they have tweeted an ad for season ticket purchases and posted a video with Joe Octave. They couldn't reuse the photo of Togo they just used to celebrate his 90th birthday to mark his death and say that they will have more information coming to honor the life of a Holy Cross legend?

I don't like to be critical, but, it's just embarassing/shameful that HC is so late with this.....especially given all the blood/sweat/tears/time/support he gave back.

One of the job postings for a top position in athletics that was shared on Crossports, stated words to the effect that all departments work together to further the overall mission of Holy Cross. The Quarterly Magazine is under a different department but TPTB intend it to work seamlessly with Athletics and all other departments. The Administrator assigned to oversee interdepartmental cooperation is probably on vacation.

Do we have an email for the Sports Information Department? I wrote to them through goholycross.com and entitled it Sports Information underscoring this should be an immediate priority, but I think we should pool our efforts to light a fire under the SID office. Togo was such a mainstay and tireless advocate for the school, along with one of our most accomplished athletes. Let's get this done for Togo.

This is bad. Do you think one of us oldtimers should call the HCAA to see if they know one of HC's all-time greats died three days ago?

One could argue the HCAA has already missed the boat and anything they do now is way too late.

Every person who has donated to HC basketball, let alone HC athletics, in the past 10 years should have received an email to the effect of "Togo Palazzi '54, NIT Champion, Boston Celtic, former women's head coach, passes at the age of 90. A tribute to an iconic Crusader" followed by a detailed obituary without any sort of link to donations. Honor the man.
