Lehigh travels to UNH on Saturday with the winner playing at JMU the following weekend. Fordham did not get in despite our efforts to help them in that regard by making them look really good at Yankee Stadium.

My brother, who is at San Diego, will be traveling to play at Cal Poly.
I'm impressed with the level of success that Dan Lindsey has brought to their program -- They've been to playoffs 2 of the last 3 years averaged about a 35 point margin of victory against Pioneer league competition.
I expect San Diego will leave the Pioneer league in the next few years and add full scholarships.

The head of the selection committee (whose name escapes me) stated publicly that Fordham was one of the first two teams on the outside looking in.

If not, 2 divisions of 7 teams each with 6 divisional games and 2-3 crossovers would work well for them.

How about the PL? The PL could use another football team. Would PL schools have a problem with a west coast trip every other year?

Makes PL travel look like a walk to the neighbors house.

I believe the Big Sky makes the most sense from them.
I went out there for a game and they have some pretty legitimate talent, every freshman for the most part is redshirting it seems like.
They will play Harvard and I believe Yale next year.

I still contend there aren't too many things in the sports world as undahwhelming as the FCS playoffs.
I know it may be a necessary evil to be able to participate in them to keep pace with other schools recruiting at our level etc....but I just find the whole process dull, disjointed and anticlimatic.

Fordham did not get in despite our efforts to help them in that regard by making them look really good at Yankee Stadium. The Monmouth loss was the death knell for Fordham. At 9-2, they'd be a shoo-in with an FBS loss and a win over the Ivy co-champ.
Illinois State got in at 6-5 but had a BCS win over Northwestern as well as a 3-0 finish to the season which included a win over seeded South Dakota State.

The fact that Fordham got overlooked and the PL champ goes on the road to 7-4 UNH says all you need to know about what the FCS committee thinks about PL. League still has long way to go on many fronts.

Think Lehigh had to go on the road because there aren't any lights at Goodman.

No lights are just part of the PL problem. In 2016 all stadiums should have lights.

League still has long way to go on many fronts. That's what happens when your top two teams lose to the LAST PLACE school in the Big South, your third best team plays a ten-game schedule and your fourth-place team loses to VMI.
But, Lehigh should without a doubt be hosting UNH. They beat the Ivy champion Princeton while UNH lost to Dartmouth, who finished last in the Ivy. Fordham-UNH should've been a toss-up IMO to get into the field. The Wildcats' only real quality win was Maine and losing to Dartmouth is about as bad as Fordham losing to Monmouth.

Back in 1983, Western Carolina visited HC for a FCS playoff game. Whatever the interest of HC fans in this game, I don't recall many actually coming. I remember being directed to sit on the Western Carolina side to help fill the visitor's stands, while across the field on the HC side there were huge areas of empty seats.

FCS playoff games tend not to draw that well, particularly in cold weather areas that are outdoors and not called Montana. The first round also coincides with Thanksgiving weekend, which hurts.

Yes, it was, but I'd been to several frostbite/downpour events in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and it was a remarkably small crowd even for a cold day.

I was there. The crowd was over 10000, which then seemed small.

I think I saw it listed somewhere at about 13K....was there as well....it did seem smallish for the time, would seem huge now. You can get a feel for the crowd here:
