Bryant Defense gets a sack, fumble and turnover at mid field. Bulldogs starting to growl. I don't think they will be a pushover late in the season. Oops, Bryant charged with helmet to helmet targeting on the play, a Bulldog player is thrown out and misses first half of next game and FIU keeps the ball.

Bryant QB slicing and dicing the FIU defense but can't get it in the end zone. Still 16-6 Bryant with a couple of minutes left in the third. Bryant has outgained the Panthers 321-137. A great showing so far for a New England FCS team.

FIU leads 85-45 in scholarships but Bryant has retaken the lead in points 23-20 with six minutes left in the game.

Bryant scores TD on first play of OT. FIU scores, gets two point conversion and wins 38-37.

Looks like Bryant will be a solid team this year. This was clearly a tough loss for them (assuming FIU is not unusually bad this season). It does make them look like a "worthy" opponent for HC.

I do think Bryant will be a good game for us but FIU is terrible. They rolled LIU last year in their opening game and then lost 11 straight, many in blowout fashion.

I had picked Bryant. Tough way to lose, after scoring on first play of OT. Looked like that game drew absolute flies.

FIU and UCONN were 2 of the 5 worst FBS teams last year. Both won 1 game (yet as has been pointed out should still beat FCS programs with ~25-40 more scholarships.) One week does not make a season but it would appear UCONN used a new staff and the portal to perhaps win a few games this year. FIU on the other hand looks to be in a tough spot (rival FAU also appears to have used the portal well). My takeaway last night is that the gap continues to close between quality FCS football and bottom half of the Group of 5 FBS. No Upsets yet this year but one could argue 5 FBS teams could have easily won so far with a few dominating the stat sheet, just not closing out a W. We need to be clear eyed about the upper half of the NEC. They can play. St Francis should have beat Akron. SHU and Duquesne are universally 1/2 but Merrimack, St. Francis and CCSU could easily push those two. Merrimack was picked 5th by the conference but Herder and Haley have them as 3rd or 4th.

Nova 24-0 six minutes into the 2nd period - it must be Ugly

Villanova won 45-17, but Lehigh had more first downs and put up more than 400 yards of total offense against 'Nova. Lehigh only scored 3 points in the second half, so methinks much of the total offense was legit. The big difference seems to have been 'Nova's passing: 11 for 15 for 298 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Difficult to believe Lehigh was anywhere competitive with ‘Nova unless the Wildcats kept their first team in there well into the 2nd half - I would guess the Nova coaches substituted liberally after building that 24-zip lead after 21 minutes

Lehigh is an awful measuring stick but Nova MAY have found another pretty good QB.

Curious to see how competitive the Red Raidahhs will be in Palo Alto today. The game will be about as competitive as Stanford’s coach wants it to be. Like BC v us last time. Except the Stanford campus is MUCH nicer.

Re: Stanford--- followers of "The Athletic" website were asked if they were optimistic or pessimistic about their team's chances for this season. A few schools had "100% optimistic". The average was 80 % optimistic. For Stanford the number was "100% Pessimistic"

I'm sure Nova's starters played at least through 3 quarters. If it's a P5 v. FCS matchup, that's when you see more subbing earlier in the game and stars getting taken out. We saw this at the BC game in 2018 when AJ Dillon was done for the day by the end of the 1st quarter. At one point that afternoon, he had a stat line I'd never seen before. Something like 140 yards on his first three carries.

Lehigh will be a respectable team in the PL this year. The ineptitude they showed last September and October is long gone IMO. They got outclassed by Villanova to open 2022, which was expected.

Villanova vs Army on September 17 will be a good opportunity for the Wildcats.

The Hoyas might be better than Lehigh, Bucknell, and Lafayette
Watched two of their practices and the result on Saturday is consistent
A long season but I wasn’t surprised by the win, but by the spread
i stilll need to watch Colgate-Stanford and the Fordham-Wagner games
in the end it is never where you start but how you finish, and when you play opponents
