Moved my freshman into his forced quad (you heard me) in Brooks (fka Mulledy) today. Have to say HC did a great job with the whole day. Tons of volunteers to unpack all the cars very quickly. Traffic flow was as good as can be expected. Line to Brooks got backed up mid-late morning but we were in before that happened. Mass of the Holy Spirit on Fitton was hot but very nice. Bonus: ran into sader1970 in my travels.

The other kids all seem nice and not prone to drama so I think they’ll do fine.

After seeing 92, I spoke to a staffer who said there was something like 4 quads but that they were in oversized rooms that used to be “the prefects’ rooms.”
He was not a HC grad and presumed he was talking about the rooms the Jesuits, when we had them, lived on the corridors at the end of the hall and were on the opposite end of where the RAs lived.
In my lifetime there, we had a Jebbie on the hall of Alumni II freshman year, don’t recall any on Wheeler I sophomore year, and definitely didn’t have one on Healy II junior or senior year
Good to see 92 with his future Crusader son with him.😊
They were both photogenic.

BTW, this was perhaps the 4th time in 5 or 6 years I participated in Move-In Day. I don’t do the heavy lifting at my age but have been tasked as a greeter.
It’s a lot of fun meeting the new first year students and their families. That’s how I got to meet Caleb Green and his parents and Kyle Copeland and his mother.
So many of these young man and women and their families are so excited and a number of them told me Holy Cross was the only place they considered and applied early decision once they visited the campus and felt like it was “home” for them. A number of the younger siblings said they want to come to Holy Cross as well.
This year I manned the chalkboards with some set questions for them to answer and then take a selfie with their answers. Things like their: name, age, hometown, major, dorm, roommate’s name, emoji, and “at Holy Cross I want to . . . “
I suggested they save their pictures for 4 years on graduation day.

The quads are on a corner in Brooks so they have windows on two sides which is nice. The rooms are bigger than the forced triple rooms. But still pretty snug with 4 beds, 4 dressers and 4 movable armoires for hanging clothes. Definitely won’t be the room where other kids hang out and play video games, which I guess is good. There is some question whether they are allowed move out a couple of the desks to free up some space. Can’t see them studying in there very much.

Has the college yet announced the actual size of the class of 2026?

Has the college yet announced the actual size of the class of 2026? Hard to get a straight answer. They all seem to say “over 900” without any more specificity.

But, LOL, you'd think that 2-3 days before classes start, they would have a very good number for this class, give or take a few. Maybe I should start an over/under pool.

Seems like the don’t really want to talk about it. Lots of the parents I’ve talked to have absolutely no clue it’s a giant class so the plan seems to be working. My best guess is between 925 and 950.

Was talking to a work colleague today whose daughter is a frosh at Fordham. She was told the Fordham freshman class is the second largest in their history.
