We were predicted 4th in the preseason PL poll and we were a playoff last fall Looking for our first score of the season after tonight’s 2-0 loss at UConn which is a step up in class for us - our opening 2-0 loss at Manhattan was a team on par with us

Game was played in front of a capacity crowd of 5212 - when was the last time any HC soccer team played in such an atmosphere ?

Game was played in front of a capacity crowd of 5212 - when was the last time any HC soccer team played in such an atmosphere ? It would be nice if the basketball team regularly played in front of a crowd of 5212. UConn is the top drawing team in the country on a regular basis. From the UConn site: Since 1999, the UConn men's soccer program has ranked in the top-five in attendance every year, including leading the nation in average or overall attendance in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. 2007, 2011, 2017 and 2018

All of the above. They also do a pretty good job getting youth soccer clubs to show up. Haven’t been recently but they used to have several clubs at each game and let the kids play small-sided scrimmages on the field. Can’t remember if it was before game or at halftime. Seemingly every young kid in CT plays soccer so there are plenty of them out there.

"Metropolitan" Storrs has a shade over 15,000 residents, 46+% live below the poverty level. More likely the locals coming from Mansfield. Much larger with 25,000 ( ). Might even get some of the 17,000 Willimantic residents. Storrs area qualifies as the boondocks except for the large UConn state university. That said, there's a lot of local pride in the Huskies.

I suspect the non students come from places like Glastonbury, which is wealthy, and a huge soccer town. Population 35000. West Hartford is huge and soccer crazy but 35-45 min from Storrs. Population 63000.

They have a secret trick. On game days they place UConn Dairy Bar signs on the main road with arrows leading to the soccer field.

Agree it was certainly different. After most of the game seeing defenses dominate, suddenly each team seemed to pull out all of the stops. Getting 5 goals from three HC players (three from Jones) was certainly a better offense than we have seen thus far. Congratulations to the athkletes and coaches of the soccer team.
