College Football Game of the Day UNC 63 Appalachian State 61
At end of the 3rd quarter UNC was winning 41-21
College football is great.
No overtime. Strictly 60 minutes.

Watched much of the BC / Rutgers game - BC May be in big trouble this season as both of their lines were manhandled by Rutgers - Jurkovec was battered all day

Lafayette has a freshman QB, threw a terrible pick early in the 4th quarter. Announcers were coaching the kid, 'you just can't throw the ball up for grabs as you're being tackled on a sack' I believe the 'Pards play W&M next. Nice to get the win, but unless the offense develops, it will be a long year.

Jackrabbits lost to Iowa 7-3. Hawkeyes margin of victory was two safeties. One safety in the third, one in the fourth.
286 yards total offense both teams. I thought maybe the game was played in a monsoon. Nope, nice weather.

PP-I guess that goes a way towards explaining how the kid managed a grand total of 8 passing yards on 8 completions for the game. Total, not average. Very (very) short completions. I guess. Still trying to get my head around that wacky stat. (And 1-11 3rd down conversions, 10 punts, and 113 total yards aren’t usually winning numbers either.)

Overall, have to say a decent weekend for the PL...HC, FU, Laffy, GTown with W's...Bucky close loss to a CAA team.

The Laffy win is the real surprise in Week 1 of the PL....tried finding the Gate game but my PC-12 channel was showing Idaho-Washington St....they are respectfully only down 35-10 in the 4th, have no idea if the Cardinal is mailing it in etc

Yes, but I plan to watch a replay today after mass as I was watching three games at once
Quick thoughts from yesterday
It will be a busy week at practice and watching film
We will need to play much better defensively. They have solid RBs, an upgrade over Merrimack in strength, quickness, and speed Receivers with solid speed and ability to create decent yards after the catch QB might create problems if given another second to release the ball, looks like we need to get him to throw on the run
Offensively stretch the field Need to get the ball into the hands of speed to get wide-receivers, Purdey, Slade?? Involved Use the passing game to open up our inside running game for Oliver, Fuller, Sluka
ST will need to make a play
Avoid all injuries
No turnovers on offense Create a turnover or two Significantly reduce penalties and self inflicted wounds

Since Lehigh only scored 9 points TOTAL in their first 6 games last year, the fact they scored 17 in their very first game this year might be seen as a spectacular improvement for TG’s squad. Of course a team that has improved is not necessarily good.

Although the QB was on the sideline-injured a week or two ago— they were better than Bucknell, just not very good

Laffy got outgained nearly 3 to 1 and won, 6-0. SHUs attack was mostly passing, different from last year.
Each team had 2 turnovers, you'd think that wasn't the difference in the outcome.
Re: SDSU- I've seen a few games where a team ended up w/2 safeties; at least one where the team that got them ended up with a grand total of 4 points (and of course our infamous loss to Syracuse, 5-3)....but never one where 7 was the sum of 2, 2 and 3!
