1. Football 1-0 (thank God for Bob Chesney and team)
2. Field Hockey 1-3 (4 one goal games including a loss to Stanford and a win over UC Davis)
3. Volleyball 1-6 (at least they beat somebody; swept Merrimack 3-0; one other set won all season)
4. Soccer (W) 0-4-2 (4 straight losses after a semi-promising start; to be fair, the three non-ACC loss were all by one goal so they could pass volleyball in next week’s poll)
5. Soccer (M) 0-3 (can’t win if you don’t score a goal)

How many scholarships between FH, VB, and the soccer teams? How much help do they get at admissions?

What sort of a "poll" is this list of team records?

It may be tough this year for HC to gain any weekly honors in football. I feel there may be a bit of bias against Crusader selections. Personally, I would rather have the team wins.

There's your bias. I was speaking, of course, about football and the fact that HC got no mention in week #1. Football is 1-0. I would have thought you made the connection. If not, I apologize for my miscommunication. I will go back and clarify.

Updated poll:
1. Football 2-0. It just keeps getting better on the gridiron. Must trounce Yale this week.
2. Soccer (M) 2-3. Big jump this week after going 2-0 and scoring 7 goals in the process.
3. Field Hockey 1-4. Shootout loss to Vermont. This team is in every game.
4. Volleyball 2-9. Went 1-3 this week but only got swept once (by Providence). Swept St. Peter’s for a win.
5. Soccer (W) 0-4-3. Nil-nil tie at URI this week. Need to get in the win column soon.

I will take any kind of win vs Yale, even another Sluka-Coker job.

If not for a weak penalty shot straight to the Friar goal keeper, we might have had a 1-0 win. Not sure how good PC is but presume they are better than most of our other opponents and, if so, the wins will come. If you saw the clip of the coach, he's emphasizing defense and they indeed looked very tough on D. Just have to get enough offense to get it into the back of the net.

Ladies have been blanked in 4 of 7 games. Only scored as many as 2 once. I’m all for strong defense but can’t win very often if you can’t put the ball in the back of the net.

92, no argument there. You have much more expertise in futbol than I, but if you can shut down the opposition, soccer balls, like hockey pucks, seem to take funny bounces and you can fluke out a win against a better team. I think that's our coach's strategy this year until he can recruit more firepower.

Just hard to get excited about a plan for the season that involves fluking out a few wins. On a related note, this tweet made me laugh.

The ladies' minor sports are having a tough fall thus far - cumulative record of FH, Soccer, VB now 3-19-3 after this weekend's results. I didn't expect it to be this bad

Updated poll:
1. Football 3-0. Great thrashing of Yale at home. Classic trap game at Colgate coming up with Harvard the following week. Need to take care of business in Hamilton.
2. Soccer (M) 3-4. Played a way-too-close game before winning against a terrible UHart team and then got blanked by Lafayette while recording one shot the entire game. Not a strong week but none of the other teams did anything to bump them down.
3. Field Hockey 1-6. Two more close losses this week. This group may be snakebitten.
4. Volleyball 2-11. Went 0-2 this week. Swept by Navy and lost 3-1 to Loyola who was 2-6 coming in.
5. Soccer (W) 0-5-4. Blowout loss to Maine and a tie with American. Still waiting for that first win to move them up a spot. At Army and home vs Lehigh this week.

In the HC/Lafayette soccer match, what happened near the end of the game that caused multiple yellow cards? The official seemed to lose control of the game with players from both side giving him crap. The red card and ejection of Klein for profanity (picked up by the crowd mike and broadcast) was most unfortunate and a black eye for HC.

If that happens I'm glad I'm not in your shoes having to decide the standings.

9-26-4. Kit's one year honeymoon lasts until New Year's. He's on the clock starting with winter sports. Miracles not needed. Any gain over last winter will be cheered in this corner.
Men's hockey could be a positive surprise. Women's hockey and Men's basketball are like coiled springs. Any improvement should generate a bump in winning percentage and HC has graciously installed heated seats on both coaching benches. Winning without Avery will be a huge coaching challenge for Women's BB but there appears to be a positive spirit in that program.

My son plays club soccer and they’re 1-1 so considering adding them to the standings but don’t want to be perceived as a homer.

That was my brain hiccup, not 92's. And I live in RI and know better. Don't worry, next time I will mix up URI or PC with UNH just to make you feel more at home.
You know, I really like the folks up at UNH but you are making it difficult. You don't have to try so hard to tick people off here as I suspect it comes naturally to you.
