Memories fade but a little research shows that Yale had a new head coach that season, Tom Williams. They went 2-5 in the Ivy League finishing 6th and 4-6 overall. All their OOC games were against PL teams.
They beat Georgetown 31-10; lost to Lafayette 31-14; and beat Lehigh 7-0. I believe but can't prove it, that Georgetown was a substitute for Holy Cross. They lost to Cornell, Laffy, Penn, Brown, Princeton and Harvard.
In 2008, while Yale beat us 31-28, it was in double overtime.
Again, may be a phantom memory but believe when we scheduled Sacred Heart it was a different date than when we were to play Yale.
FWIW, GU was their first game of the season and they played 9/19/09.

Expect Yale will be a tough challenge. Many on this board have correctly pointed out the IL advantage in signing up players. There are "Good and Plenty" high quality football players at Yale & Harvard as well. A game with Dartmouth would have been a great clash too.

An there is that pesky little fact that HC has never been able to beat both Harvard and Yale in the same season...NEVER! Could this be the year??? Heck yes, it could be just that. If we are to do this, part one has to be a win THIS WEEK.

As posted earlier, Massey makes HC a 2 point favorite. BASSETT predicts the following for this week: HC by 1 over Yale in a toss-up game (50-50) Both see the game as VERY close, agreeing with many posters on Crossports.

I'm trying to dig into the memory bank but can't recall specifically if Yale did for sure pull the rug out from us in 2009 and if so, who the replacement was. I do remember the full 2009 schedule coming out in February at the team awards banquet so there was no last minute scheduling that spring. In 2009, we played both Northeastern and Sacred Heart. I believe Northeastern was a return game from 2006 when the Huskies beat us at Fitton. And the SHU game may have been the completion of the series that took place during the end of the Allen and beginning of the Gilmore regimes. But the 2005 AND 2009 SHU games were both at home so again not sure. The SHU game also took place 9-12 which was a week before the Ivy season started. In 2010 we opened with Howard at home which was a game that was indeed scheduled very last minute and was a one-off. That wouldn't have had anything to do with Yale since Ivies don't open that early. Maybe that was supposed to be a continuation of the Northeastern series, and of course they dropped football after the 2009 season. As far as 9/19/09, we played Harvard that day so again that wouldn't have been a Yale replacement.

If you buy them in advance, they are electronic or you can print out pdf copies. Based on last year, tickets bought at the stadium are printed tickets. I assume no change from last season.

Highest rank HC has been for a game at Fitton since November 23, 1991. Have we been ranked any higher for any other games like postseason or road games? It seems to be the highest in recent memory for me, but I have not done the research! Any guesses to attendance this week?

Closest, without going over, gets to delete one of his incorrect picks from this week's Pick 'em.

My definition of "torch" is more than 14 points (15 or more) 2. No bet because as my late mother used to say, and was eventually right, "I could be dead by then" since I said after 2 more wins, so 2+ years from now. And, of course, despite our great start, I expect this will be a close contest.

I simultaneously picked 12,500 with another poster. I'll bump up to 13K. But I'll decline the offer to delete an incorrect pick. I'd rather have two uncomplicated contests with a chance to win a no calorie hot dog.🤣
