Massey has HC as an 8 point favorite over Colgate (21-13) with a 74% chance for the win. The Raiders are still smarting from last year's game at Polar Park and will be keyed up for this game.

Quick update on where a few of our stars stand on the all-time HC football stats lists as we get ready for Colgate
Matt Sluka
Matt has enough attempts now that he now stands at #6 for completion percentage at .585 Matt's 20 rushing touchdowns (in 20 games) places him at #8 on the list Matt's 5.3 yards per carry is #4 all-time
Peter Oliver
Peter gains 4.8 yards per carry, good for #9 all-time for career rushing average Peter knocked Steve Buchanan out of the top 10 in career rushing yards and is now at #9, passing Mark Covington who falls to #10. He'll likely pass Gabe Guild, J.R. Walz, and Steve Hunt and maybe even Joe Wilson (what a runner!) who is in 5th
Derek NG
Derek is now the career leader with 38 Field Goals, passing Anthony Pignio Derek passed Mike DeSantis and is the career leader in extra points Derek is #3 in career scoring with 254 points and soon should pass Gordie Lockbaum and Joe Segreti who are tied for #1 with 264 points

'Gate appears to have a weak offense. More rushing attempts than passing attempts. 3 rush TD's to 0 passing TD's. 480 yards in 3 games on the ground, 270 in the air. Reminds me of classic Colgate teams from days gone by. I like the in game adjustments our OL made after the first few rushes by the Yale lead back. Looking forward to this one. QB Michael Brescia pacing the backs with 42 attempts for 206 yds. Only 3.0 avg. Max Hurleman has 32 for 153, 4.8 avg. We contained the Yale QB so no worries about Brescia. Lots of other rb's getting touches. colgateathletics.com/sports/football/stats

In 2 of their three games their offense did not score a touchdown (Stanford and Penn) - 3 td's by the offense, all vs. Maine If you can get 8 points on this game, Bet the Ranch - I'd be shocked it it's close

Will the records now have an asterisk for 3-4-4.5/5 varsity seasons? Perhaps, but Mark Covington should have an asterisk for only playing 2 years!!! Just looked at the stats. He had 209 carries as a sophomore.

The Covid half year puts NG and others at 4.5 seasons. Those players lost at least 7 games during that Covid season. If Ng had 4 regular seasons , he would most likely have easily broken the record within 4 seasons.

Don't disagree
However Some played three years when we only had three years of eligibility Some where injured and played two years A few have extra time due to Covid
The numbers they put up, regardless of the years they performed, are worthy of all recognition and mention

Colgate had a few injuries this week DB Owen Goss DB Arthur Hamlin DB Assauni Allen DB Keshaun Dancy OL John Hartman
Considering how their secondary performed in the game, it is not surprising to see some injuries from the Colgate secondary, 2 TD's and almost 300 yards passing to Penn. Their OL also gave up 5 sacks. I don't want to get too ahead of myself here, but I think our offense shouldn't have any issue. They are not looking forward to their homecoming game this weekend in Hamilton.

A full-circle game this weekend?
Chesney’s only trip to Hamilton was in his first game as head coach at HC (Sept. 1, 2018). HC lost 24-17 that day. In typical Chesney fashion, we came on really strong in the second half after trailing 24-0 at halftime.
Four years later, he goes back having entirely changed the program.
The freshmen on that team who saw the field that day were Peter Oliver, Derek Ng, Terrell Prince, Spencer Gilliam, John Smith, Liam Anderson, Nick Olsofka, and Cristos Argys.
Chesney is only part of the reason this program has gotten turned around — it’s these kids, too.

Penn's view of their game. vs Colgate: PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania football team used an outstanding second half to overcome a shaky first, and the result was a 25-14 win over the Raiders Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field. The Quakers outscored the Raiders 22-0 in the second half in winning its season opener for the second straight year over a Patriot League opponent. Quaker Notemeal *In the ninth contest all-time between the two squads, Penn has now won four straight games against Colgate in the series. This victory marks the Quakers' first against the Raiders in the 21st century, the last meeting taking place in 1996. *Penn out-scored Colgate, 22-0 in the second half and held the Raiders to just 192 yards of total offense including 148 passing yards. The Quakers gained 367 yards of total offense including 289 through the air. *The Quakers were defensively sound on the day, led by leading tackler Shiloh Means, who recorded seven tackles (four solo). Jaden Key and Kendren Smith both tallied six, while Jonathan Melvin, Garrett Morris and Jake Heimlicher each recorded five. Speaking of Heimlicher, he picked up right where he left off last year with two sacks for a loss of 14 yards. Joey Slackman and Grant Ristoff also picked up sacks on the day. Graham Gotlieb was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goal tries, including a long of 24 yards with 1:27 left in the fourth quarter to increase Penn's lead to the final score of 25-14. *It was a good start to the non-league slate for the Quakers, who will play all Patriot League opponents this season. Penn has now won two straight games against the Patriot League after shutting out Lehigh, 20-0 on Oct. 9, 2021. Penn will turn its attention to Lafayette next weekend at Franklin Field. *The attendance was 4,678, Penn's largest crowd since 5,142 attended the 2021 Homecoming Game against Cornell.
How It Happened Penn's first drive of 2022 ended quickly, Quakers QB Aidan Sayin intercepted by Jackson Price near midfield. The defense was stout in its first action, though, and held the Raiders to a 44-yard field goal that Spencer Biscoe knocked through. Penn's second drive? Much better. It went 16 plays, covered 72 yards and took more than seven minutes. The Quakers got first-and-goal at Colgate's 7 before the Raiders defense stiffened, leaving Graham Gotlieb to tie things up with a 19-yard field goal. Sayin was 8-of-10 passing on the drive, hitting five different receivers as the offense got unspooled. The first quarter ended with the score tied, 3-3. A pair of Penn mistakes directly led to the only points in the second quarter, all of them by Colgate.
The first came on defense. It looked like the Quakers had held the Raiders on downs near midfield, but a personal foul gave Colgate a first down. The guests took advantage, driving all the way to Penn's 8-yard line before Biscoe knocked home a 25-yard field goal for a 6-3 Raiders lead. The offensive error was far more direct. With less than 30 seconds left before halftime, Sayin was flushed out to the right side and airmailed his throw to Rory Starkey, Jr. Instead, Colgate's Marquis Cooper picked it off and the next thing you know he had gone 68 yards to the end zone for a shocking score. Colgate then compounded the error by converting a two-point conversion to take a 14-3 lead into the locker room at halftime. The offense made amends with its second-half performance. Penn started with the ball in the second half and immediately embarked on a 13-play, 75-yard drive that ended in the Quakers' first TD of 2022. Sayin completed seven passes to four different receivers on the drive, and this time Penn got the break when he was tackled on a third-and-16 rush but Colgate was whistled for a late hit. That gave the Quakers a first down and new life, and they took advantage. After a rugged five-yard gain by Trey Flowers got the ball to the 1-yard line, Sayin hit Starkey and the senior got the block he needed at the left sideline to get into the end zone. The PAT was no good, and the score was 14-9.
The defense held Colgate to a three-and-out on the Raiders' first drive of the second half, putting Penn's offense back on the field. Momentum was with the Quakers, and they kept it rolling with five-play, 55-yard drive that was highlighted when Sayin floated an absolute perfect pass into Sterling Stokes' breadbasket along the left sideline for 30 yards. Two plays later, Flowers went virtually untouched up the gut for an eight-yard rushing score, giving Penn its first lead of the season at 15-14. The two-point conversion was no good.
The defense again stopped Colgate's offense, limiting the Raiders to one first down, and for the third straight time the offense went to work. Sayin completed four straight passes to end the third quarter, moving Penn from its 32 to Colgate's 33, and then his first completion of the fourth hit Jonathan Mulatu who outran his defender to the left pylon for a 10-yard score. After the kick, the Quakers' lead was 22-14.
Colgate hit the big play when Michael Brescia found Max Hurleman on a wheel route for 54 yards down the left side. However, the Penn defense answered after that, and on fourth-and-5 the Raiders went for it unsuccessfully as Brescia's pass to Garrett Oakey was overthrown. Penn put this game to rest with some good old-fashioned power football. Starting with the ball on its 37 and 8:02 on the clock, the Quakers were content to hand the ball off to Flowers again and again with the bruising senior gaining 35 yards on seven straight carries. That ate up more than six minutes of game time, and Gotlieb made it a two-score game on a 24-yard field goal with 1:27 left. The defense had one final chance to shine and boy did they, the Quakers sacking Brescia three times on the Raiders' final three offensive plays of the day.

Here is Colgate's view of the same game:
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A strong performance by the defense in the first half, couldn't overcome a Penn comeback of 25-14. PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A strong performance by the defense in the first half, couldn't overcome a Penn comeback of 25-14
Marquis Cooper scored his first career touchdown off a pick-six to get the only Raider touchdown of the game. Spencer Biscoe finished the day 2-2 in field goals and 1-1 in extra-point kicks.
Colgate started the game punting away its first possession, but the defense made up for it on Penn's first drive. The Quakers were intercepted by Jackson Price on the Colgate 46-yard line. Colgate capitalized on the interception with a 44-yard field goal by Spencer Biscoe. Penn would retaliate with a 16-play possession that tied up the game with a 19-yard field goal. The two field goals would be the only points scored by both teams to end the first.
The second quarter started with both defenses putting on a show as the first three possessions of the quarter were punted away. The third, a 47-yard punt by Shelby Pruett and excellent play by the special teams, made Penn start their second possession at their 1-yard line. Later in the third, a personal foul for 15-yards on Penn resulted in a Colgate first down at the Penn 47-yard. The Raiders would take advantage of Penn's blunder, as Biscoe added a 25-yard field goal to the scoreboard to get the lead back for Colgate. The defense would continue to put on a show, as Cooper intercepted the Quakers scoring a 68-yard rushing touchdown, bumping the score up to 12-3. The Raiders were not done there, as Colgate went for the trick play when Biscoe was up for the extra point. Linebacker Drew Frankel rushed it in for two points. The Raiders led 14-3 going into halftime. Unfortunately for Colgate, the second half of play would be all Penn as the Raiders were held scoreless in the final two quarters. Penn opened the third quarter with a 13-play, 1-yard touchdown. To the Raiders' benefit, the Quakers missed the extra point kick. The Quakers tallied their second touchdown of the third to lead for the first time in the game. Penn's offense tried for the two-point conversion, but they were unsuccessful, keeping their lead to only one point. Penn opened the fourth quarter with a 10-yard rushing touchdown, extending the lead to seven points. Michael Brescia connected with Max Hurleman for 54-yards on the Raiders' first possession of the fourth quarter. The Raiders could not capitalize on the play and had to punt again. Penn scored one more field goal to cap off the scoring in the game with less than a minute and a half left. FROM THE SOURCE Fred '50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach Stan Dakosty "Penn came out well coached and well prepared. They came out in the second half like the first never happened, which turned the page for the game. "We go onto a big Patriot League game. They're having a great year so far. We have to see who we have available and get the guys ready to go. We have a long season ahead of us. "Our guys fight. I told them after the game, you can only fight so much, then you have to execute." UP NEXT Colgate returns to Hamilton for the first home game of the 2022 season. The Raiders take on the Holy Cross Crusaders for a Homecoming showdown. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. inside Andy Kerr Stadium.
