I have heard their crowds are small but enthusiastic. Last year, their biggest crowds were just over 8,000 against Dartmouth and Harvard and 11,000 vs Columbia.

To think we were nit-picking a crowd of near 14,000. We look like Tiger Stadium at LSU compared to Franklin Field.
"Quaker Notemeal" is very cute.

Massey has HC as an 8 point favorite over Colgate (21-13) with a 74% chance for the win. The Raiders are still smarting from last year's game at Polar Park and will be keyed up for this game. Massey now has HC as a 10 point favorite over Colgate (24-14) with a 78% chance for the win.

Colgate has struggled running the ball, although it is a run heavy offense, and has been woeful in the passing game.
Colgate averages 3.5 yards per rushing attempt Opponents average 3.7 yards per carry, so Colgate’s run defense is pretty good
QB Brescia is a good runner but is 26-59 passing for 234 yards, an abysmal 4 yards per attempt. His QB rating is 73.99 (Sluka is at 197.4) . Colgate opponents have a composite QB rating of 147.16 and are 80-113 with 3 interceptions and 6 TDs. With 863 yards they average 7.6 yards per attempt.
We should be a very heavy favorite in this game. I’m thinking 31-10.

We should destroy Colgate. Doesn’t mean it will happen that way but it’s the most likely outcome.

For those of us who've traveled to Hamilton numerous times and seen heavily favored Crusader teams lose or eek out a close victory; toss-up games go the Raider way; and have vowed never to go back there again (possibly being a jinx), I wouldn't count on a Crusader rout and would be thankful for a win of any margin.

Unless we lay an egg, and all things are possible, I believe our speed, quickness, depth, and attention to detail will be too much for the Gate.
Do we take over early or is in the 4th quarter before we break their will?

Take over early with a couple of TD passes to Coker and Asante and a Sluka 12 yard TD run in the first three possessions

I remember sitting in the snowy visitor grandstand (that was mysteriously less shoveled than the home sideline) in Nov of 2008 with the PL title on the line. That was the year all our losses were by 3 pts or less.
They must have gotten 8-10" the night before and it felt like 20 or 25 degrees. I was the only one of our friend group to attend but a friend of a friend was going with her friends and meeting her dad (a 'Gate alum) for a tailgate. He graciously poured peppermint schnapps in our hot chocolates (I believe we were sophomores).
He had high praise for Dom and and our receiving core but thought that the Raider line would get good pushes and ultimately wear down the Crusader D. I thought our quick strike offense could respond well. Unfortunately, he was correct as they seemed to take all day on the eventual game winning drive, methodically rushing downfield. Could not strike with a final Hail Mary. My memory might be a tad fuzzy as it was so long ago now, but at least pops passed over a fifth of something to tuck away. I passed around hand warmers and liquid warmth that afternoon! I believe we were literally huddled together for warmth. I made fast friends that day.
So...never one to take Colgate bounces, officiating, or home turf for granted. I do think our passing game and Sluka's ability to expand the pocket and evade pressure will neutralize the Colgate run D. Might be close after 1, but thats it.

As I've posted in the past, October 12, 1968, HC was favored by 7-10 points. Myself and another Classmate decide to drive to Hamilton at about 3:00 am to watch an expected Crusader victory after drafting 2 other Classmates and even though none of us knew exactly where Hamilton, NY was despite 3 out of 4 of us being (downstate) New Yorkers and having to borrow money from one of the group to finance the trip (gas, tolls, food, game tickets). Short version: we make it to the game only to watch the Crusader's "lay an egg" and lose 14-6. The definition of a "long trip" was that drive back to campus when myself and one of the guys were awake for something like 36 hours after getting back just in time for 11:00 PM Saturday night Mass.

What a high level analysis, using Chesney’s terms. I do not know about the intricacies of everything he says, but I am sure some who read here do comprehend them.

In a nutshell what he's saying about Colgate's Defense is they play two deep safeties with 2 cornerbacks (typical Cover 2). That's their base. But they will mix in 3 deep safeties and take one of those Corner Backs to create pressure and they will also play man to man. They stood toe to toe with Stanford's offensive line so they believe Colgate's front 4 Defensive Line are pretty good.
Offensively they like to get their QB running down hill toward the line of scrimmage and use a lot of motion to create mismatches, determine our pass coverage, and create deception. Maine is a good win for Colgate. Will be a tough game.

Looking at Colgate’s three games 1- disregard the Stanford loss, except the Chesney comment 2- Maine victory looks good, but how good is Maine ? 2 bad FBS losses to New Mexico and BC 3- close loss to Penn, but how good is Penn ?

Colgate is a proud program, well aware of their strong football tradition. I expect a very strong start by them and look forward to seeing how well we handle that.

Maine actually played BC pretty tough, but how good is BC? Penn was ranked 6/8 in Ivy League preseason poll; Yale was 4th. Harvard, Dartmouth and Princeton were way ahead atop the poll.
