Good Morning: The Yankees are the best. The Red Sox are the worst. Enjoy your Wednesday. Sincerely, Smug After non-NY sports fans holding their noses while NY sports fans post three pages of posts that have nothing to do with HC it might be time to put it to bed.

No chance. I read about Worcester city this, and pages of semi-political COVID banter, Red Sox's minor league affiliate teams and where they should play, anthologies of Ivy League football games played in black and white, the Queen of England, and all things far afield; New York will have its day (week, month, etc.). You may click elsewhere, sir.

I missed it by not paying much attention, but the regular season is running a little late this year. Normally the season would be ending this Sunday, with the division series kicking off Thursday or Friday. The season isn't even ending until Wednesday. Expanded play-offs will push things farther back. Get ready for November baseball

You are right, 100%. I relish the opportunity to avoid the quirkiness of the early elimination game/Wild Card round, and into the "real" series for the playoff tournament. My faith was shaken in August.

All rise. Judge hit 61 last night. People can hate the Yanks all they want but he’s a class act and it was a great moment last night in Toronto with Roger Maris’s son and Judge’s mom sharing a hug as Judge rounded the bases.

Judge 173/552 .31341 Arraez 167/533 .31332 Bogaerts 167/541 .30869 Xander isn’t doing his part to keep this interesting. 1 for 14 in the last four games

This has to be pretty close to the lowest AVG ever to win a batting title.

Judge 173/552 .31341 Arraez 167/533 .31332 Bogaerts 167/541 .30869 Arraez has been hot lately. He was 3 or 4 points behind Judge and Bogaerts a week or so ago. 2 for 5 yesterday compared to Judge's 1 for 4 With the Yankees basically locked into the #2 spot, in the olden days (like last year), conventional wisdom would have Judge and most of the starters getting a day or two off this week. With the expanded playoff format and the Yankees getting 5 days in a row off, an extra day off this week isn't that big a deal. For those that enjoy asterisks, Judge passed Babe Ruth in game 155

Also a very good night to be a Mets fan Eduardo Escobar knocked in all 5 runs including a walk off single in the 10th. Mets lead the Braves by 1 game entering their probably decisive 3 game series in Atlanta.

This has to be pretty close to the lowest AVG ever to win a batting title. It would be by far the most HRs to win a batting title, or Triple Crown for that matter.

I was hoping he'd do it a game or two sooner. It was game 155. I'd have liked Ford Frick's asterisk (don't think it exists anymore, but, nevertheless it's one of the things I remember about the chase in '61) to have been obliterated as much as Maris' record.

But almost all BAs were higher/much higher during those years By top players, certainly. Strikeout rates were much lower too. Pitchers threw less-hard, didn't understand all the same spin/mechanics like they do today, and there were less chances to come back from arm/shoulder injuries.

I have heard about steroids ad nauseam...but what about different mound height, and the "juiced" baseball or the changes in the manufacture of the ball?
