Quite a day in NY. 1 + 2. The Yankees and Mets each won games to remain in first in their respective divisions (and Judge hit his 59th homer). 3. The Giants reached 2-0 with a victory over Carolina (19-16). 4. With less than 2 minutes left in the game, the Jets trailed the Browns by 13 points before rallying to score 2 TDs and win 31-30. Granted, their opponents were not powerhouse clubs, but given their recent history a weekend like this is most rare!

Judge is having an amazing year. In addition to likely breaking the AL (and real) home run record, he has a pretty good chance to win the triple crown. HRs and RBI are in the bag. He’s a close second in batting average at the moment.

As a Jets fan, I'm more embarrassed for the Browns secondary than I am ecstatic about the comeback.
You could've put Fordham's defense and special teams out there and Browns win that game. The blown coverage on the first TD is one of the worst defensive miscues I've ever seen watching NFL games the last 27 years or so.

Speaking of the Jets, during the Yale game, a plane was landing at the Worcester airport and with my binoculars it was clearly "wrapped" (learned that term from Silver Fox for his buses) with the Jets green color and clearly had the Jets logo on it.
Would the Jets have been flying into Worcester? Is one of the few airlines going into Woo have a deal to wrap their planes with Jets colors/logo?

Unlike the Pats who own two planes, I believe the Jets travel in a green jet owned by Jet Blue. Jet Blue flies out of Worcester. That's probably the plane you saw.

NYers finally have something to cheer about. For the first time since Sept. 2009 NY baseball & football teams won all their games on the same day. Boston fans have been spoiled with their amazing run of champions or near champions in various sports. Beantown guys please try to understand.

One of Jacob DeGrom’s most amazing stats (including last night) this year:
4 (!!) Walks and 86 Strikeouts.

Boston fans have been spoiled with their amazing run of champions or near champions in various sports. Beantown guys please try to understand. With the exception of the 90's (with only two teams making it to the finals), this has been true for a long time. The best span was from 1957-1978 when there were only two years (1971 and 1973) a Boston sports team did not make the league final

A tremendously talented pitcher-I just wish he could stay healthy and get a few years with 30 starts His injuries are a recent development. Don't forget that he won back to back Cy Youngs, and you don't do that without staying healthy. He had 30+ starts in 5 of 6 straight years after his rookie season, and then didn't miss a start in the pandemic-shortened season either. That's seven seasons where he didn't miss any extended period of time outside of a September injury in 2016.

He’s had 30 starts in four seasons and won’t make a dozen this year. He’s 34 and has just 82 career wins . I know that he’s likely more interested in pennants than in the HOF but he’d have to pitch until 40 to post a HOF resume.I hope he does. Look at what Verlander is doing in his late 30’s

Look at what Verlander is doing in his late 30’s Well for starters, wins are fortunately no longer taken seriously as a metric of a pitcher's worth, because otherwise he'd have been punished for his historically poor luck and run support. 21 wins total in back-to-back Cy Young seasons (not exactly close calls either -- he was one vote away from being unanimous both times). Completely disagree about the HOF standards you're setting for him too. 2-3 more seasons of being a top-3 pitcher in the league is enough given what he's already accomplished, and that's not hard to imagine given how much better he is than everyone else.

Judge now with 59 home runs. One point behind Luis Arraez (.316 vs . 317) for the batting average crown in the AL which would also give him the triple crown.

Max with 6 perfect innings coming back from an injury, along with an Alonso three run dinger, clinches the first playoff appearance in 6 years for the Mets. Knocking out reigning Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes in the process.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since Cabrera did it with Detroit - and that broke a 45 year drought. 85 years since there's been a triple crown in the national league. A very rare feat if he accomplishes it

Judge could get to 61 in 154 games and there won't be any mythical asterisk attached to his AL home run record. (Ruth hit 60 in 1927. If we figure someone would have to be about 7 to remember any sports result, that would mean that one would have to be 102 to have a recollection.)

One sad note for New Yorkers is that Joan Hodges, Gil’s widow, just passed away at age 95. It’s nice that she got to see him make the Hall. I believe she still lived in the same Brooklyn house where she and Gil lived when he was a Dodger
