OK, i just saw a commercial with a pair of Ma scots in it. Suddenly I was back at Fitton Field with the Crusader on his white horse on the field! Must have been late 50's early 60's.. Anybody else remember this?

I remember our Crusader (both with horse and without) very well....a great presence at games. Sadly I never cared much for Iggy...too much like Marvin the Martian.

I have two photos with the Crusader. One at an HC Open House as a teenager and one with the Crusader as a senior. (I was friends with the student inside!)
Absolutely bring back the Crusader! Or even Iggy I suppose. But...I don't want to jinx us or ruin the mojo this season.

What a fantastic move it would be for our new dynamic president to bring back the mascot. The alumni base would respond with tremendous enthusiasm

That’s an excellent fundraising drive. If we raise X in 48 hours, the Crusader is back. Would be a very lucrative 48 hours for the College.

Despite the assumptions and assertions wouldn't expect the crusader to be raised from the dead. RIP

Mascots have currently fallen out of favor as a branding vehicle for collegiate sports as well as businesses.
For those who have seen the commercials for New Jersey Manufactures Insurance, the NJM commercials advertise..........No Jingles or Mascots.
Mascots have been steadily been deemphasized as a branding image over the last ten years.

I am partial to the "Heisman House" commercials featuring mascots and former Heisman winners. I believe it is for Nissan.
As someone who has a cousin who played baseball for Florida, I generally dislike most things about Florida State athletics, but I do appreciate the pageantry of Chief Osceola on his horse Renegade launching the spear at midfield prior to each game.

Ironically, they’re using a mascot here. And this is clearly a play to try and differentiate themselves from Geico (gecko), Progressive (Flo), etc. Getting back to Holy Cross, PVR seems to really get it with how great a vehicle sports can be when it comes to furthering s college. He’d really make a splash with alums by bringing the Crusader back.

He’d really make a splash with alums by bringing the Crusader back. From a purely administrative standpoint, is PVR able to do that? Was it a decisions by Fr. Burroughs after hearing from students, faculty, alumni, and administration, etc. and he made it from a place of executive power? Or would it need to be voted on by the Board?
