Grrat to see the program turning the corner - looks like strong goaltending as usual a big part of the reason

BU ahead 5-3 in Turnpike Trophy points after the HC WH two game sweep. No more Hockey. We have to sweep all four BB games plus any potential PLT games because we end the season with minor sports contests.

Our team is finally coming together nicely. They showed great shot blocking and stifling team D against BU in both the Frozen Fenway game and their indoor game. I think Meredith Roth is a great in-game coach. Hope she gets her chance some day at the d1 level. I wouldn't mind her taking over for HCKL at some point. I am hopeful that the experience of Roth and LaChapelle at the national level coupled with the fact we are recruiting NEPSAC and Canadian Maritime players once again will pay dividends. I never thought of it this way, but old friend Pete Van Buskirk regularly went to girls tournaments around the country and was going to many NEPSAC hockey games. We all hoped our new coaching staff could leverage their USA hockey experience to get some recruits. Is it possible they have taken this long to finally discover more northeast based recruits? Instead of getting a (ok I am using a football and basketball "star" analogy that I know does not exist but I hope it helps convey my point) 1* or 2* star recruit from Michigan or Minnesota who hasn't really heard of HC, we might get a 2* or 3* recruit from Tabor Academy or Nobles. Perhaps we even can leverage connections to get a 4* who instantly makes an impact. Make sense?

Look at BC and BU on the womens side. They both have dropped off a ton since many of their olympians have graduated.

If a local (and I'm someone who remembers Nova Scotia Day and New Brunswick Day at Fenway Park every year so I know the New England states are more local to the Maritimes than Minnesota or Michigan) player will give Holy Cross a home town discount, take it.

Two home games this weekend: Maine on Friday and New Hampshire on Sunday. Both are immediately in front of us in the standings and while we can't pass either with W's, it will be interesting to see how we stack up. Maine is 10-10-2-2 in the conference while UNH is 8-13-0-1-2 (the extra numbers referring to OW, OL, SW). In theory, we can hang with both or beat both. We lost to both UNH and Maine at the beginning of the season but are playing far better in the last 30 days. Merrimack, who is one point behind us, has one game this weekend at #11 UVM.

Nice finish on the backdoor on the OT winner. Good net presence and toughness all year long. From the games I have streamed or watched on TV, we are tougher than in the past. Maybe more gritty goals than nice snipes, etc...

We beat the slightly better team in Maine and lost to UNH. Do we not match up well against them? Our defense has been pretty good all year long, but 7 goals vs. UNH? I believe, even if we were to win all of our remaining games we could not catch UNH for 8th place. In Hockey East, the 7 seed plays 10, 8 plays 9. I think we have to hope UNH passes Maine in the standings and we take a trip up to Orono rather than Durham. Easier matchup.

Our top goalie Madison Beck had a tough game on Sunday - UNH scored 4 goals on their first 11 shots - and the coach pulled her This happens sometimes

It was more competitive than the score indicated. The BU vs. Northeastern game was one sided for most of it. I am happy HC won 2 of 3 against BU this year and got a point in the other game, but they are not a strong squad right now.
