Both the men's and women's swim and dive programs opened their season with wins Saturday against Iona. The men beat Iona for the first time in program history(previously 0-8) and the women won against the Gaels for the first time since 2019. Both teams won handily with the men winning by a score of 128-166 and the women winning 119.5-174.5. Freshman Zach Bubonovich set a new pool record in the 100 yard breastroke. Certainly a great way to start the year for the Crusaders. Congrats to new head coach Kristy Jones on her first wins at Holy Cross!

The Crusaders competed in invitationals the last 2 weekends. Last weekend the teams headed to Chestnut Hill for the Boston College invitational(BC, HC, UMass, Providence, Bryant). This year's BC invite saw a much faster meet, as many of the slower teams were disinvited and UMass and Bryant were invited for the first time. The women placed 4th and the men placed 5th. Holy Cross won three events, with Charlie Nascimben winning the 200 breaststroke and Zach Bubonovich winning the 100 breaststroke for the men, and Ainsley Nalen winning the 200 backstroke for the women. This weekend, the teams competed in the Worcester City Championships(HC, WPI, Clark, Assumption) with both teams dominating and taking first place. Neither team lost a single event all day. Zach Bubonovich set a new pool record in the 200 breaststroke, a record which had previously stood since 1990.
