Did not realize this game was home. Usually Sacred Heart and AIC have to play midweek games due to the minor league franchises in their buildings.
Live stats not loading for me. Any idea who is in net?

Stats were down whole game. Down 3-0 starting the 3rd, scored 2 to make it competitive but lost 3-2. Goal and assist for freshman DeBoer and a goal from Guerra. Disappointing home opener.

Gale started in net. From the SHU twitter account, looks like 1 fluky tip in front where he was screened, a no chance on the pp and a great individual effort (where the 2 defensemen that got split should be running stairs at fitton all weekend).

Two weeks ago, I stopped by the campuses of Sacred Heart and Fairfield to review their construction progress on their new arenas. Making the early December deadline for Fairfield will be very tight with lot of work to be completed. Floor and bleachers have not been installed
Sacred Heart’s new ice palace, which is located on the campus acquired from General Electric, will be equally difficult to complete by the beginning of January minus extended construction workdays through the Christmas holiday. Great location, by the way, as you enter the campus off the Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkway. The arena is next to the old GE headquarters, which is now the Jack Welch Business School Center. Parking is convenient, to the arena, with a large garage immediately adjacent.

Jack Welch graduated from UMass and got his graduate degrees from UI-Urbana but the business school at Sacred Heart is named after him?

SHU picked second in the preseason poll. Not sure whether we came out flat with no students on campus and played well thereafter or whether SHU was trying to sit on their lead in the third and allowed us to make it look closer than it really was.
Edit: Looked at box score. We scored our second goal in the final two minutes after we pulled Gale for an extra skater.

Relatively few shots in the game. Might explain the holding penalties by both teams! We need to capitalize on special teams, something they haven't done much thus far. SHU was 1/3 on the PP last night, we were 0/4. Shots were 22-18 in favor of HC. Have a great day everyone!

Same old problem......No scorers or players with offensive abilities. Hope this changes or we will be in for another long year. As last year, the team plays hard right until the end.

Thank you Jack and Linda. A better choice than spending it on a mega yacht.

As last year, the team plays hard right until the end. “No . . . players with offensive abilities” seems a little harsh after one league game and two games against one of the better programs in the country but we’ll see how it plays out. I may be saying the same thing in a month.

Worse performance tonight - 5-1 loss (only a late 3rd period score for us)

I believe Louden Hogg played the whole game tonight. 5 GA on 32 shots. Gale played last night. Not so sure about Hogg. They have given him a chance but I think Gale and Grande are better as of right now. Always tough throwing a Freshman in net on a team like HC.

Back to SHU’s arena - it’s supposed to open with a game vs BC on Jan 14th - HC is scheduled to play games 2 and 3 there Jan 20-21. I’m planning on getting to one of those matches
