In wondering who might be available to come back next year, I made myself a list of the 4th and 5th years seniors. It may not be perfect so any suggested corrections are welcome.
5th Years (16): Christos Argys Terrell Prince John Smith Liam Anderson Derek Ng Peter Oliver Walter Reynolds Liam Doran Nick Olsofska Jake Reichwein Jack McCauley Anthony Leo Grady Smith Spencer Gilliam Lemuel Marucot Dan Kuznetsov
4th Years (22): Ayir Asante Devin Haskins Jared Kreimer Jordan Forrest Griffin Wiegel Tyler Purdy Jonathan Young Jacob Dobbs Kam Molton Hugh Kelly Hunter Burns Adam Guillemette Ben Blessing James Schnell CJ Hanson Pat McMurtrie Dalton Daddona Jack Coulson Dom Thomas Sean Morris Thomas Kiessling Patrick Haughney

I agree with the above HC92. Of the 22 4th years I personally expect 8 to 10 to return. I'm not going to get into who is coming back but there a few factors that go into those decisions. What players do you want to give money to; what players do you want back on your roster - knowing you have younger guys who need PT or who are flat out better; position need, etc.
I don't think 16 are coming back like this year. I do very much expect about 8; maybe 10.

Doran has not played due to injury. NCAA-wise, I believe he can play another year somewhere.

Doran has not played due to injury. NCAA-wise, I believe he can play another year somewhere. Keyword is "somewhere." Once HC players are eligible to receive their sheepskin in May they have another possible option. I can't fault those players. HC won't pay for a year of graduate school and if you are a recruited football player you might even have easier access to a grad program you want. I can see the pull of staying at HC for one extra semester to play championship football also.

Marked those 4th year seniors who appeared on the Fordham two deep (plus anyone who started week 1 and is now injured) with an asterisk to give folks a sense of who might be on the list to bring back. One star is first string. Two star is second string. Some not starred are obviously key pieces for us.
Ayir Asante* Devin Haskins* Jared Kreimer* (punt returner) Jordan Forrest Griffin Wiegel Tyler Purdy* (kick returner) Jonathan Young Jacob Dobbs* (started week one) Kam Molton** Hugh Kelly Hunter Burns* (started week one) Adam Guillemette** (backup long snapper) Ben Blessing James Schnell CJ Hanson* Pat McMurtrie* (started week one) Dalton Daddona** Jack Coulson Dom Thomas** Sean Morris* Thomas Kiessling Patrick Haughney*

Just thought I would give this thread a little bump.
Anyone have updates? We obviously have some big shoes to fill but having guys back like Haskins and Dobbs could really help settle the D next year.

Doran has not played due to injury. NCAA-wise, I believe he can play another year somewhere. If Doran dropped the fall 2022 semester, would he not be eligible to return in fall of 2023? He would matriculate the spring of 2023, and his eighth semester would be fall of 2023. Has he been seen on the sidelines?

An excellent career and an outstanding Crusader. He has been a leader on campus. I hope he is able to find a good fit for his talents while getting an advanced degree.

A Covid 5th-year is still eligible (as applicable) for a retroactive redshirt elsewhere so perhaps we have a few 5th years who have not finished their college careers.

Some players have a 6th year of eligibility “in the bank” so to speak due to a prior redshirt year. A fellow poster pointed out to me that no one can play in the PL for a 6th year, even if they wanted to. This, their only option is to look elsewhere for that 6th year.

That is correct. Unfortunately playing a 6th year at HC is not an option. A few others may follow same path.

John Brekke was the first post Covid player to use his 6th year at another program (Miami OH). Seniors that chose to graduate from HC and use their Covid years (5th years) elsewhere and could have technically returned to HC are Brian Foley (Duke), Jack Bolwer (Richmond) and Joe Lang (PWO at FSU)

We don't want to be like the IW QB who was in his 7th year! If someone gets a 5th year due to medical reasons, use it but remember, "We're not in the entertainment business!" LOL!

I honestly believe HC will start using a 5th year more often. They see the power in it. Medical redshirt of some sort for Frosh and ask them to do a 9th semester with a double major. I have no inside knowledge but I view this as a viable option for the future and one I believe the coaches will start to use. I’m 100% in favor. Hurts no one.

Peter Pujols and many others have utilized the medical redshirt (PL-permitted). Differentiates us from the Ivies (who permit no redshirts at all). I see us moving to the non-medical redshirt once the Covid 5th-year kids depart.

Obviously. If we want to ratchet down our goal quite a bit (compete for PL Champs or Ram-Crusader Cup or Bucknell-HC Polar Park Champs or something along those lines) we can do without the 5th-years.
