UConn may well go undefeated next year if they can stay healthy. Paige back, lots of very strong players coming in. Losing Dorka and Lou Lopez-Senechal. Both good players but replaceable. And there is some talk Cameron Brink from Stanford could transfer to Storrs. Undefeated ? Because of Paige and freshmen ? Are those freshmen big, athletic and skilled ? That is quite a reach after today’s game, as well as some other bad showings. Ex South Carolina I can tell you from first hand experiance media was more interested in covering Paige taking jump shots in warmups than game action this season.

Azzi wasn’t healthy all year and wore a brace on her knee when she did return and was not close to what she was when healthy. Caroline Ducharme missed a big chunk of time with a concussions and played very tentatively when she did return. Ice Brady who is a big and #5 player in the country last year who dislocated her knee and missed this season. A 6’4” center from Egypt who redshirted this year after arriving on campus mid-season. Two top 15 recruits. If healthy, they’re going to be loaded and may well go undefeated. That’s a big if given how unhealthy they’ve been the last two years. And Stanford grad transfer AA/NDPOY Cameron Brink has yet to pick a home. If that’s UConn, look out.

Even without freshmen and transfers they'll be loaded. Muhl is back. Yes,she had a bad game, but she was playing 38 minutes a game and got worn down. They'll have Paige and Azzi on the wings so teams won't be able to double inside., Ice Brady, who is 6'3, will probably take Dorka's spot. Edwards will be in the mix for NPOY. Aubrey Griffin and Ducharme will be coming off the bench, and they'd probably be starters for almost every other team in the country. And it would be surprising if they didn't get a good player from the transfer portal. Good players want to play for Auriemma because he can make a good player great. Take Lopez-Senechal. No one was talking about her when she was at Fairfield. Now she's a top 15 WNBA pick.

I know the WNIT is hardly on anyone's radar but Columbia (27-5) was the first team left out of the NCAA's and has won 4 games in the tourney - they're in the semis tonight at Bowling Green (31-6). Ivy bball both M&W underappreciated

Anyone that watched Fairfield knew Lopez-Senechal was good but yes, Geno helped her get more recognition nationally.

If you are an Ivy League school and you don't have a good mid major basketball program, you aren't working your assets as effectively as possible.

The suckerpunch victim, Elissa Brett from Australia had an off night with 8 points on 13% shooting.

Does that equal undefeated ? I was commenting specifically on your statement that the SC loss was a bad showing. I was too lazy to pull only that quote. With the balance there is today in the women's game, going undefeated is an outlier. SC had two OT wins and could have lost to UConn.

UConn lost by 4 to undefeated South Carolina this year. Here are the players who did not play in that game who will play for UConn next year if UConn is healthy:
Paige Bueckers (#1 recruit 2020, NPOY) Azzi Fudd (#1 recruit 2021) Caroline Ducharme (#5 recruit 2021) Ice Brady (#5 recruit 2022) KK Arnold (#5 recruit 2023) Ashlyn Shade (#15 recruit 2023) Qadence Samuels (#41 recruit 2023) Jana El Alfy - 6’4” redshirt frosh from Greece
No idea if they’ll go undefeated but it’s certainly within the realm of possibility if you add that group to Aailiyah Edwards, Nika Muhl, Aubrey Griffin, Ayanna Patterson, Amarie DeBerry and Ines Bettencourt.

Only 5 play on the floor at any time - Have you also analyzed the projected rosters at So. Carolina, Stanford, Maryland, Notre Dame and other perennial top 10 teams ? and who knows who they're picking up in the portal No one is going undefeated anymore with the talent spread out among the top programs
