My old point remains...Avery is a graduate of Holy Cross...NOT transfer. It was the Same with RJ when he graduated and played for UConn and for Butler and Faw. Calling it a transfer sends out a negative message.

Calling it a transfer sends out a negative message. But the first sentence of the article said "took their undergraduate degrees". Makes it clear they didn't abandon their school.

Not really. I see your point, after all we understand what happened, but she did not transfer. She was not enrolled anywhere from which she could transfer.

By the way, our other grad transfer, Maddie Demski is doing well on a 4-0 Gannon team, averaging 20 mins 7.5 pts, & 5 rebs a game. Steph Davis has started every game for a 1-3 Longwood team is playing about 17 mins a game, not scoring much, about 2 pts a game, looks to be a defensive specialist. A guess - grad transfers are considered "transfers" because the process is initiated through the portal and it is in that process the amount of eligibility left is confirmed/determined.

I believe a student is considered a transfer if they have eligibility remaining and they change schools. If one does so after earning an Undergraduate degree, then they are described by the NCAA as a graduate transfer.

HC graduates transfer their remaining eligibility to an institution offering graduate programs or lose it. So grad transfer is an accurate description and does not diminish HC except to dolts who think it is Holy Cross University and has it's own graduate programs like the majority of D-1 institutions do and thus the grad is rejecting HC for another school.
So we're good amongst the best and brightest of sports fans nationwide.

I believe the NCAA changed its rules with regard to options for students who have earned an undergrad degree. They can now earn a second undergrad degree (use a single scholarship year to work towards it at least) instead of a grad degree if they choose. I do think all their eligibility has to be in a 5 year window though. I could be wrong! So a senior could have/can stay if they choose for that 5th season???

Mary Rose Cambell stayed for a medical red shirt fifth year and I don't believe she earned a second degree but was able to take courses at UMass Medical School through the Greater Worcester Consortium for Higher Education, possibly towards a second major for her one HC degree. Two bachelor's degrees could be helpful if the second one comes with a hard credential such as eligibility to sit for the teacher certification exam or something. It would be good to arrange courses to get something tangible for a year of unnecessary undergraduate education.

The changes made were definitely related to covid era issues that pushed new legislation. An athlete that is offered an additional scholarship year by the school at which they earned (or are about to earn) an undergrad degree can choose to stay a 5th season to earn another undergrad degree or a grad degree (if programs are available). Or they can go elsewhere as long as they are within their five year clock.
I believe the medical red shirt rules related to injury or illness have remained the same.

Crusaders staying disciplined which is good. BC not playing well and effort looks Thanksgiving break-ish. If BC doesn't pick up its energy, we can win this one.
