I just tuned in with a minute and a half left. This result is very encouraging for league play. Berger represents the best freshman to sophomore skill development of a player by an HC M/W coaching staff since ________?

MM needed to use her time-outs.....from the last 4:30 to under a minute, game went from 4 to10 with no response. This group is learning to find who their leader is without Avery in these types of games. Until they do, it's the coach. You can't take multiple time outs home in this one. Gotta settle them down, draw up a plan to execute.

No reason to think we can't compete for first in the PL this season.

Only from the box score but I noticed Wright scored today. If the coaches can do for her what they did for Berger, it will be very enjoyable to watch steady progress happen.

This was a game for the taking - to make a statement but we did not perform in crunch time. We led 34-27 and BC finished the game on a 25-8 run. I’m disappointed

We led 36-27 with 3:17 left in the 3rd qtr - proceeded to score 6 points over the final 13 minutes shooting 2 of 16 from the floor. I’d be very disappointed in coach MM if she didn’t come away from that game saying ‘darn we could have won this one’ Now we move to a weak ooc schedule - why aren’t we playing two or three out of Yale, Harvard, Quinnipiac UMass, Providence.?Dartmouth and Brown are bottom-feeders of the Ivy.. Northeastern is the only remaining ooc game that would be considered a good win

IMHO, if HC wins they can all be good games.

I was able to watch the replay up until it was 36-29 HC or so. Berger's composure around the basket and the team's ability to find her against an ACC team is exciting. Allen has similar skills. Now the task is to integrate both into the offense.
There was one play where the announcer summed up a BC big's dilemma in being unable to help defend a successful Berger score underneath: "She couldn't switch off because that would leave Allen open."

The team ran out of gas. Chasing ACC players will do that. Munt and Foreman didn't play. I hope they are OK.

As much a s she improved her game, the most stunning transformation for Rocky was her conditioning, she went from a fairly willowy body type to pure muscle. The only other player I can think of who made a similar change was Kaitlin Foley between her sophomore & junior years.

Gotta settle them down, draw up a plan to execute. IMHO game was lost before that. HC simply could not generate any offense once they got up 9. Bad shots combined with bad shooting when someone finally got open. Little success getting the ball down low for easy shots as well.

Difficult to win when two starters play 60 minutes and go 0-8. Berger has been a revelation but what happened to Munt?

Difficult to win when two starters play 60 minutes and go 0-8. Berger has been a revelation but what happened to Munt? Sophomore slump. But in thinking back to last year there wasn't too much tangible production to slump from. It was more a sense that of the three freshmen she appeared to have the most potential.

Did Munt's 0-8 against CC put her in the DNP-CD category? Not many on the HC bench in uniform.

They definitely had trouble scoring down that stretch you referenced, timholycross. Even with the struggles, I felt the 4-point game with 4+ minutes was winnable (although that momentum shift was clear, I agree) and they should be fighting to the end to win it. So I was just confused about why the lack of time-outs at the end. At that point, between BC's scout of the team's offense, and their defense having experienced it for 3+ quarters, the team needed a time-out with some new quick hitter to force the D to communicate its way through it to solve. A coach needs to find points there. If it's not a comfortable thing for MM, or whomever has the game scout, that's fine, just delegate it to someone on staff who is good at it. A lot of D1 teams do that. But someone needs to re-group the team during that momentum change and not just let it ride and see how it goes. That's the heart of game coaching IMO.

Did Munt's 0-8 against CC put her in the DNP-CD category? Not many on the HC bench in uniform. Perhaps the coach's decision was to not further bury Munt's self confidence against ACC BC but rather wait until the Dartmouth game to start to rebuild it. I hope all the young players get good opportunities during the OOC schedule. It's great to have a Holy Cross team in rebuilding mode but still have a winning record.
