Here we go, game week. UNH is clearly a VERY good football tame -- Dylan Laube is a stud. He can run, he can catch, and he seemingly never gets tired. Max Brosmer, their quarterback reminds me of our own #9 - he can throw the ball, and he can make things happen with his feet. UNH receivers seem to be tall and rangey, but not very fast (deep balls seemed to go to Laube -- intermediate and short throws were going to their WR's). Defensively, they have stud defensive ends and they play good team defense: swarm to the ball, and play very physically. However, UNH seems a bit soft in the middle, and they are VERY thin at cornerback (not to mention some injuries at safety). I think that HC is going to match up very well with this team, and with a week to get healthy, you have to feel good about this matchup.

And to repeat what I posted elsewhere, if we win, it'll be a historic 12 win season that has never been done before. Wildcats will be tough based on what I saw today.

Not a time to think about the PL vs other leagues, but what our program can achieve with proper execution and discipline.

The co-CAA champion vs. the undefeated Patriot League champion with the winner getting to go play the number one ranked team in the tournament. It should be fun!

Went to the game Fordham beat themselves. UNH is good but capitalized on Fordham mistakes (turnovers) and the Rams bad special teams. Will be good to play a new team and I think the Crusaders match up well with the Wildcats. UNH should also bring some fans.
What are we thinking crowd wise 6k?

Weather forecast is for a high of 50 degrees, 10-20 mph wind and a 42% chance of rain. 6K official NCAA reporting sounds good unless Kevin Shea can whip up some excitement to get a few more fans out.

I think 8k with more like 10k if the rain chance lowers and we are looking at 50*. Rain in the forecast could be more like 5-6k.
Keep an eye on those secondary injuries for UNH. That might influence a more pass heavy attack. They are better vs the run than the pass. We might be fully healthy for the first time in 3 months on D. Stop Laube and you stop the QB and their whole attack. Rain and wind would mean lots of runs for both teams I think.

Did not realize SDS received a double bye. You do realize how good SDS is I hope. SDS will be awaiting the winner of our game this Saturday. It's a whole different level of football when you play a Missouri Valley team.

The arrogance of some posters on this board never ceases to amaze me. I can only imagine what some people will sound like if a CAA team which is a higher ranked and respected conference beats the number 8 seed next weekend. It will be all that Holy Cross beat themselves. I try to have respect for my opponent and realize on any given day anyone can beat anyone. Holy Cross is a very good football team and has shown that every Saturday they've played so far. It will take a great effort for UNH to beat them.

You are quite right, but just remember that no "conferences" are playing each other this week (or any week for that matter), only the two teams involved. I certainly respect UNH and expect to see a good game from both schools. However, any team can have an off week and this, in the eyes of some, beat themselves.

Crossports is a very active board, and the chit chat runs the gamut. There's plenty of respect for UNH here. Anyone who watched yesterday's game (which I did) knows that UNH is a formidable team. Personally, I have high regard for UNH as one of my brothers and a niece went there.

Agreed, and as I pointed out in the other thread it was obvious (and thoroughly unsurprising to any football fan) the CAA co-champ was better than the 2nd Place PL team yesterday. Just wasn’t the day for Fordham to pull an upset. Don’t know where UNH’s Morisseua’s (#9) been hiding but he certainly flashed FBS speed yesterday. Know he’s not the star but his speed is a HUGE mismatch for us. 1 rush for 71 yards and a TD and one reception for 65 yards and a TD. [Edit: Just googled him and turns out he was a legit football/track star at St Anthony’s on LI who is a grad transfer from UConn.]

I watched the game. First, go back over the years and you'll see my posts are very pro-UNH despite a certain regular poster here who is supposed to be a Wildcat alum and shows the same disrespect for HC that you feel posters are giving UNH. (Two wrongs don't make a right).
The Rams after a very good start shot themselves in the foot with that first fumble and the momentum shifted quickly to UNH who are a very, very good team. It wasn't like the fumble gave the Wildcats a short field. They legitimately went right back and scored. DeMorat threw interceptions that also hampered his team. UNH was able to "help" DeMorat by very good defensive play. This was not Fordham's best game but they didn't play in a vacuum. They played a solid UNH who played better than Fordham. Would UNH beat Fordham 10 games out of 10? I seriously doubt it but they won yesterday when it counted. We are in win or go home playoff season. UNH won, Fordham went home.
I expect a similar game next Saturday. I guarantee you that the Crusaders respect UNH and won't be looking past them.
Oh, there will also be a much larger crowd at Fitton and I expect a lot of Wildcat fans to come down for the game.

I disagree as one way to look at any team is you are a compilation of all of your plays to any given point in your season. If your schedule tests your mettle play by play, game by game, during the course of the season, it has prepared you well for the post season. Your conference certainly plays a role in how well prepared you are to face the iron in the post season.

I think I said the following on another thread Congratulations unhfan you all played well today and i am sure you gained some confidence today. Both teams played short a player or two and UNH survived and won, in part to some mistakes made by the Fordham staff, but also by making plays. I never thought you stopped Fordham, but they did stop themselves and that cost them the game #20 is a beast and you are solid at the skill positions, defense took advantage of Fordham play calling Next week should be an interesting adventure but neither team should think this game is a walk in the park- UNH will need better execution offensively and Holy cross will need to avoid penalties Should be an exciting game Good luck and hope it is a great game I believe that is a fair assessment of the game yesterday and not intended to be arrogant at all as I said it should be an exciting game on Saturday

In the "good old days" before St. A's had a football team, they were noted for track and especially cross country. Don't know what their top sport is now after 55+ years. I do recall they were NY State football champs 20-30 years ago.

Fordham's offence is so productive, you need stops in order to defeat them. UNH had 8 stops yesterday; three punts, 2 ints, 1 fumble and 0-2 on fourth down. In spite of this, Fordham still managed to score 42 points. By comparison, HC was able to get 5 stops against Fordham, all on punts. Not counting the OT score, Fordham scored 45 points in regulation. Pretty similar stats. I think we can expect a very close game on Dec. 3 but I would give HC a slight edge.

IF, a big "if," the Crusaders can hold penalties to a minimum and avoid the fumbles we've been able to avoid all season and Sluka has no drive killing interceptions, HC wins this. The more penalties and turnovers we have, over what we create, the chances of victory goes down considerably. These teams appear to be very evenly matched so the team with the fewer mistakes will likely be going on to the next round.

So many on this board were hoping to play UNH. Be careful what you wish for? UNH looks pretty good to me, certainly good enough to beat FU. All this CAA Conference talk is nonsense merely designed to provoke a response. HC is playing UNH. PERIOD! I don't believe HC is merely slightly better than FU. I think HC is more physical than FU. The HC "O" presents a different set of challenges and the "D" is stronger. Actually, football is a game of match-ups. How well will UNH's (HC's)strengths match up against HC(UNH)? Obviously, UNH is a good team. No doubt the team believes it can play better and rise to the occasion. HC is rested, strong and must maintain its laser beam focus or else... Expect an old fashioned smash mouth football game.

They got 6 in 2018 and 1 made it past the second round. It was a good win against Fordham but let's calm down a little bit. UNH got blown out by NC Central at home this year. I just want the Crusaders to get some respect nationally. Undefeated they barely got the 8 seed.
