Anyone know today's crowd number? The box score said 6600-something. It certainly felt like substantially more.

Totally agree. That number is too low for reality.

Totally agree. That number is too low for reality. Which is really odd considering the opposite appeared when Holy Cross hosted Fordham, Fitton Fieldnlooked barely half full, if that. Hopefully attendance will continue to increase next year.

Definitely felt like more UNH fans than on Oct. 29 against Fordham and last November against Sacred Heart. I think we are low-balling our attendance. Definitely less on the home side than Fordham. How did it compare to Lehigh and Bryant? Less than Fordham and Yale I think.

Assuming people on the visitor side were UNH fans, yes, there were more there than most games. I think Wildcat fans travel well.
The home stands were deceptively empty, but while we were the first into the stadium (Nick Smith told me we had to wait until 10:30 and then at 10:35 am they were putting up a tent for the ticket takers and weren't going to scan us in claiming not open until 10:45 and being a New Yorker argued that her "boss," Nick Smith, said 10:30 and it was past that and then Brianna (ass't ticket guru who knows me, told the rented help that I was right and past 10:30 so she personally scanned us in). So, looked like there was going to be a few hundred attendees but then just before kickoff, more and more people crowded in. Definitely more than 6,000 but fewer than Fordham. Lots of Wildcat gear being worn. As others posted, halftime under the stands was SRO crowd.
Considering how hospitable Wildcat fans are up at Durham and attendees at Fitton yesterday, I was surprised at how chippy their players were with 2 justifiably getting ejected. The most egregious was the guy who speared Sluka in the head with his helmet as we he was obviously trying to knock out our most potent offensive weapon (no slight to Pete Oliver). The refs didn't initially call it but here's where the electronic scoreboard paid for itself. They showed the hit and the HC side erupted. The refs saw it in technicolor and couldn't ignore it and recognized how bad it was. It was just too bad that we had an offsetting penalty that nullified a great TD run. All worked out in the end.
I was happy that post-game, both sides looked to put all the animosity behind them and both good winners and no sore losers. Wildcats were a worthy opponent and suspect we'll see them back on the schedule on a pretty regular basis in the future.

I would agree with you, hoops, on that count. I have been to games in Philadelphia and their fans are the worst...bar none. I would rank UNH among the best on the other side. That is similar to the Jackrabbits. Great fans, but they had a couple of really dirty hits by some of their players in yesterday's game. That should not reflect on the overall fans or their program.
