If we got enough fans on a JetBlue flight to MSP, we could get a bus to Sioux Falls. Great idea: charter flight from Worcester or Boston to MSP and then charter bus from MSP to Brookings. That would be a party!

I am glad the understaffed Athletic and Development Departments are not trying to coordinate anything, or surging help from other departments. Every fan should invent the wheel on their own. There is no benefit for a team of Athletic and Development Department officials to have a large group of HC's most loyal supporters who can all afford to fly to the Midwest on a day's notice, captive on a plane, a bus and a hotel for the weekend.

Crossports rules will not allow more than four posters to go on the same flight….

FWIW, earlier today I fired off an email to Joanna Geraghty Kelly '94 who happens to be COO of JetBlue and appealed to her for help getting a flight from New England to either Sioux Falls or Minneapolis. I wouldn't care if PVD, Logan, Worcester, Manchester or Hartford. Edit: you beat me ChuChu I’m in if a flight get organized but we need to know quickly

All set. Room reservation booked. I’d suggest fly to Chicago take an hour flight to Sioux Falls. I had no problem getting a room at the Sheraton Sioux Falls. Hope to see folks on Friday and Saturday.

Pleasant drive, but IMO if a group is going to pony up for a charter flight would make sense to just fly into Sioux Falls, no? But as PP pointed out, it would likely cost less to fly in and out of airports that JetBlue already flies into. Fly into Ohare in Chicago and then connect for an hour flight to Sioux Falls. Real easy. Brookings is a 50 minute drive from Souix Falls on game day.

To be clear, the team's plane is not an HC charter, but an NCAA charter. (This seems not to be the case for FBS/BCS bowl games. There are some very strange bowls these days.) discussions.flightaware.com/t/2021-college-football-charter-flights/78839/37^^^In the initial weeks of the 2021 season, fan charters (the airline) are listed for a few games, but none thereafter. Post-season, including FCS playoffs. are included. Allegiant Air is a popular charter. For the early FBS bowl games, airlines that do military charters are often listed. For example, Rutgers flew on a 747-400 out of Newark on an airline that the Department of Defense uses to fly troops hither and yon. The list suggests it may be very difficult to do a charter at what amounts to a last minute flight to airports that are not an airline's station, except at a prohibitive price. Holy Cross did no charters in the fall of 2021, home against Sacred Heart, by land to Villanova.

I found flights much cheaper to Minneapolis. It was 248 round trip on JetBlue with 144 for a rental car from National. I saw nearly $700 to fly to Chicago and then Sioux Falls. Hotels do seem cheap!

44, how much is your private itinerary setting you back?
What you’re doing is not unlike my many business trips to the Midwest but that was almost 20 years ago.
As other poster said, I’m disappointed that HC Athletics Dept. at this point has a “hope to see you there and good luck trying to get there” attitude. Maybe they’ll come through at the last minute but would have been nice if they had done some initial research on the decent chance we’d be having a game in South Dakota especially since we played there a year and a half ago and if Delaware had upset SDSU, the game would have been at Fitton.

I stayed in the Hampton Inn last spring which is located right when you cross into the town of Brookings. And same thing when I looked at flights -- was almost double the price to connect to Sioux Falls when I went on my trip. Which would've been magnified x2 since I brought my dad out there. Would have to rent a car from either so thats a wash. And this coming weekend hes returning the favor and flying me to Bozeman for the W&M-Montana St game.

Sader I haven't gotten my flight cost from Chicago to Sioux Falls yet, my room cost is $150.00 for the night at the Sheraton in SF's. The flight is a little over an hour from Chicago. Freddy O'Connor, Kevin Golden are driving from Chicago (8 hours) no thanks. I'll fly back to Chicago right after the game.

Say hi to Fred (Freddy? Really?) and Kevin. Tell them I said hello.
Chances of going just dropped as a family member just got a positive rapid Covid test and will be doing one on myself shortly.😢👎

What's the weather forecast? (Yes, I guess I am old enough to be discussing weather!). I would think the weather and temps might be a bit better Saturday afternoon in Brookings than Bozeman on a Friday night. Go get a win for the Tribe! (Unless you think the Bobcats are an easier foe for our Crusaders). I told my better half I would like to go to the semifinals at W&M if we pulled off the upset this weekend and the Tribe beat MSU. I am not sure she would approve of a trip to Bozeman.

Looks to be high 30s-low 40s with 10% chance of wintry mix. Unseasonably warm…I’d guess a gametime temp of 32 and slowly warming.
That said the forecast will change daily if not hourly…one predictable thing about SD weather is it’s unpredictability. 🤣

I'm not sure what the better matchup for HC would be -- I'm sure Ill know by end of 1st quarter Friday night.
Haven't seen Montana State. Saw W&M beat Charlotte Labor Day weekend. They have a very balanced offense, kind of similar to us in that sense. Strength of their defense is the secondary.
But in general, winning in Williamsburg probably easier than having to go out to Bozeman.

It's not fair to expect the Athletic Department to look ahead to SDSU when the Wabbits were playing Delaware of the NFL, er, I mean the CAA.😅

Yeah, it’s called preparation. Kind of like what Coach Chesney, his assistants and his coaches do all the time.
(Can’t speak to the basketball team.🤷🏻♂️)

I realize there has been turnover in the Athletics Dept. since 2016, but did we offer any sort of transportation or packages to the First Four in Dayton or the Corvallis Regional for the baseball tournament? Unfortunately, I was unable to travel during March Madness of 2016 due to a small health issue but would have definitely made it to Dayton if I was able. It's difficult with less than a week's notice to pull anything together from an individual perspective but as soon as the bracket was unveiled, I would think the athletic department could have made some phone calls to start the process. They or the NCAA would have far more buying power when it comes to charter planes and busses and would likely be able to negotiate a good price. You could even partner with a "host hotel" like my wife and I did for our wedding. We got a discounted rate for everyone since we booked the block of rooms.

I went to the HC vs Southern U game in Dayton and was pleased to see that there was a bus load of HC students who had made the 800 mile trip to the game

All this is now academic for me. While I don't personally have covid right now, it's just a matter of time due to exposure.
Good luck Crusader fans and, of course, to the players and coaches. As I've said, a win this Saturday will be our generation's '42 win over BC.

We’ve had multiple episodes of Covid in our house and there does not seem to be any pattern as to which household members get it or not each time.
