So am thinking of making the journey from Worcester to SDSU. Anyone else heading out? Will there be a HC tailgate? And where are folks staying?

Most important, how are you planning on getting there?

Using miles to fly to Sioux City or flying to Minneapolis for about $300 round trip

Family issues prevent me from attending. Heard that Brookings is a great host town. Wish I could arrange it. Will be at the next one!

If you can’t find rooms in Brookings try Sioux Falls. It’s 50 miles and all interstate, 80mph and about an hour or less. Traffic is rarely an issue so it’s pretty easy getting around.

Afraid the boss will nix any travel plans but perhaps a group package or charter would help persuade her! Sounds like an awesome town.

I made the trip to Brookings, SD in 2021. Can't make it this year.
I flew from Newark to Chicago to Sioux Falls. Rented a car in Sioux Falls. Easy drive from Sioux Falls to Brookings, it was basically one highway going North. The speed limit was either 75 or 80, took less than an hour.
Brookings has a lot of hotel options and places to eat. I stayed at the Comfort Inn which was very close to the Stadium, about a mile and a half. The hotel had a bar. The night before the game, I went to the bar and met a lot of SD State Football parents, really nice people.
If you don't rent a car, it was easy to get around with Uber.
Tailgating was not allowed due to Covid restrictions. We (HC parents) met up at a sports bar - Cubby's. I believe we went there after the game as well.
Overall, a bit of a challenge to get there. Nice town and friendly people.

Staying at the Sheraton Sioux Falls. Renting a car and driving to the game in the morning. Flying back to Chicago after the game.

Cubbys is awesome. Spent a lot of time in that bar on my trip in 2021. Sorry that I'll be missing rubbing elbows with what sounds like a much larger Crusader contingent this time. Get to the bar early, it will get mobbed.

OK, ESPN national broadcast it is. I wonder how many potential recruits will be watching? I hope they enjoy the show and want to be a part of it in the future!!!

Well, at least the Crusaders won't be overwhelmed by the size of the stadium though many of our players have been there before: gojacks.com/facilities/dana-j-dykhouse-stadium/2That said, if there are plenty of seats available, the Jacks may be a bit jaded about the whole playoff thing.

This game will be a lot closer than the Dakota prognosticators believe. HC has pretty much the same group as two years ago, only vastly improved, especially in the skill positions. The game two years ago was a lot closer than the score indicated. HC, first time In the playoffs in forever, blew some scoring opportunities early, and the momentum shifted to SDSU. Sure, SD was clearly the better team that day, but HC showed they can play with them.

I wouldn’t say as fans there is any “jaded” factor. Lots of old people are fair weather, true only good weather fans. As I’ve mentioned, SD weather is incredibly unpredictable even with improvements in forecasting. All said I am hopeful for 10k plus Saturday. Maybe 13k if HC fans are dedicated. 😁 At 19k the stadium is a blast…but even last Saturday at 6k it was loud. Playoff crowds are just loud and I think it translates to the broadcast too if you watch it.

I thought for sure with our momentum on the opening drive Ches should have opted to go for it on 4th down rather than kick the FG (chip shot I think?). Granted, 31-7 is not really much different than 31-3, but I think it could have easily been 31-10 or 31-17. Definitely closer than indicated. That opening drive was something to behold.

IIRC, Ng had a FG attempt blocked on the first drive -- it was a long attempt 45+. I think the FG we did convert was a matter of just trying to get points on the board at that point which I think made it either a 7-3 or 10-3 game. Best shot for a comeback was when we had the Jacks punting out of their own endzone down 17-3 early third quarter. And thats the kick that Smith muffed. Long TD pass next play made it 24-3 and ended all comeback hopes.
