The stadium is considerably larger on the west side vs east(visitors) side. Club level, suite level and such. DJD Stadium seat 19,340 I believe. There is expansion ability to grow to 23k if ever needed by adding an upper tier on the visitor and south end zone areas. How much of your league is on the same footing as the MAC and how much has no business moving up? Do the schools get along and therefore perhaps aren't making moves w/o the others? There's also intra-state members (the SDs and the NDs); what moves does one school make w/o the other? SDSU and NDSU made moves together, hence a great rival game. The Jacks success has helped too. Both the Jacks and Bison would finish top 3 in the MAC or MWC. Sounds arrogant to say but it’s true.

The game didn't feature nearly the chippiness of previous ballgames in 2022. It was well officiated too, the refs were in control but clearly in the background, not the forefront. Both factors made the game much more watchable to someone tuning in w/no rooting interest. I recall the announcers saying that the officials were from the Southland Conference. The Jacks were ranked #38 (n=123) and HC #111 in fewest average penalty yards per game (72.4). The averages are through yesterday's games, so HC was ranked even lower on Friday, probably around #115 / #116.

This year? I think so. How we have enough good health and 5th years next year that we can beat them. Would be epic.

Served 'em some Patriot League humble pie while also departing Buffalo with 400K courtesy of the New York state taxpayer.

We should have had a better seed. Hopefully yesterday’s showing helps that next year. Beat army. Beat bc. Get a home quarterfinal game. New season, new team. Let's take it one game at a time. But yes lets beat BC! 8 months to prepare to ground the Eagles!

Regarding officiating. They let them play I’ll give them that. SDSU got away with a blatant block in the back once. Several no call HC PIs that were frustrating as a Jacks fan but not string the refs up. I saw 1 SDSU Pi not get called. Holding didn’t get called until the 4th quarter. It was happening on both teams so a wash. It did get chippy at times but the refs talked to the players, warned them I guess.
Spotting the ball though was terrible. Both ways but incredibly bad in favor of HC. Would it have mattered? Likely not but live it was pretty bad. I have yet to watch the replay.

The Purdy to Morris TD was a great call…surprised it worked so well against the Jacks D as this happened last year:

Probably were better than BC in 2022. SDSU's defensive line would have had their way with BC's terrible blocking. And, if they played them early in the season, BC was breaking in a new OC and essentially a new offense (which was dumb considering their offense in 2021 was pretty good).

FWIW the Jacks replaced OC(Eck, head coach Idaho) & passing game coord Schluesner(OC, Idaho) as well as Co D Coord(Bergstrom, Head Coach, Winona State. OC Lujan is young but a bright mind. Zach is young, late 20’s maybe and hit the ground running. Very little changes in scheme and philosophy there. DC Rogers is our Head Coach in waiting. The Defense stepped it up with only one guy in charge.

I get it It is up to the defense to stop. However, the play is to kick the FG, go up multiple scores. If I was still playing, I would try to injure every mother#$@&^*!er on the field if they did that so they never played again. #$@&^*! them. Their coach is a piece of #@*&$~! who looks down on us. Have another few drinks and go for a drive. Good lord, seriously, find another sport or enjoy synchronized swimming. The Jacks got housed by JMU in the Semi’s a few years ago. SDSU played rather bad but I had no issue with JMU dropping 50+. The UC Davis game earlier this season ended 24-22. With less than 5 min left it was 24-10. The 2nd string offense in running clock. The 4th string RB loses the handle on the ball and fumbles. Short field UC Davis scores. Then they execute an onside and score again, missing the 2 point conversion. Almost successfully retrieve another onside kick. If you’re pissed about a TD because it screwed up your betting line admit it. Don’t spout hatred and injury because the score looks worse on paper. Root for the Bobcats this week if you think it was dirty or underhanded. Honestly if I were an HC fan I’d root for the Jacks. As a Jacks fan I believe it was the biggest test SDSU has seen all season, Iowa/NDSU/UND/UNI included. All those games were away games. HC came to Brookings to play and for several quarters we’re beating us at our game. Trench warfare, line play was impressive and Sluka is a stud. When the last TD happened I thought it was bush league, (kind of like the Kansas player doing a breakaway dunk at the buzzer 20 years on us in a NCAA game to push the margin to double digits instead of 9), but the more I thought about, they are obviously different. As unlikely as it was to happen, a kneel on 4th down yesterday would have given HC some life. Only a tiny sliver but one nonetheless.

Yeah, it worked…barely. We also pioneered the throw the ball into the stands with 8 seconds left on 4th down that gave USD 1 second to throw a Hail Mary to beat us. So another reason to understand why I see no issue with scoring with :40 left.

I'll be rooting for the Jacks, no question. On that last TD, I agree that SDSU made the right call and I'm certain, if roles were reversed, Chesney would have gone for the first down. However, it would have been a beautiful thing if the Jack's receiver had caught the ball and then took a knee rather than score.

Again I’ll have to watch the replay but I remember it being close to the goal line and either momentum or the tackle taking him into the end zone. I’ll agree if he had a chance to kneel at the one that would have been a nice gesture. But that act in and of itself could be conceived in a negative patronizing manner.

Frustrated since we played them tough.
What a great season with so many memorable moments I will never forget.
Sluka is the best running back in FCS. He is unstoppable. He proved It again.
Missed field goals hurt us. We should have got a higher seed and we will next year since the country knows about us now.

In an effort to try to provide some personal balance to my immediate reactions after the game: on that 4th quarter run by Davis with the brutal stiff arm at the end, I noticed some SDSU players mocking the HC players with their arm/hand waves (or whatever it is). I had no problem with that at all; as an old man I did not like all the constant chirping and gestures (along with needless penalties) that we saw during the season. I know others do it; I just don't like it, and wish that they would get away from that going forward. The waving of the hands like a bird's feathers by the entire secondary throughout the season was terrible. Yes, they need to stop all the mocking and taunting, received plenty of penalties during the season for this.
