I do not believe there exists a conference that is interested in Holy Cross and Holy Cross is in turn interested in joining.
That does not mean such a conference will not exist in the future, same as if this were being debated back in 1980.

In 1980 HC was not in a conference. Actually, as some said, HC was in no-man's land. That ship has sailed. Today, HC is a proud member of the PL. There is no serious debate.

Take the word “proud” out of the sentence or replace it with a “long time member” and that will get universal support.
I am just kidding, my attempt at humor on a Sunday afternoon

I am just kidding, my attempt at humor on a Sunday afternoon Hard to be proud of the competitiveness of the league in nationwide D-1 circles. But by being part of a collaborative of as close as you can get to like minded institutions does give Holy Cross some shelter from the storm of NIL payments, league and division hopping and other excesses. Because it has D-1 auto bids the PL can be a launching pad when a member school has a team who can compete nationally, and a place to hide when a member has a team or teams on the other end of the performance spectrum. 😟🧑🎄🤣

As far as the launching pad aspect, the season is about a lot more than the post season. People want to see a good product competing against good to great opponents on a regular basis. Crushing inferior foes on a regular basis can get old as odd as it sounds. Having said that, I don't know where else the athletic program can go and remain D1. I think our best bet is William and Mary, Richmond and Villanova look around the CAA and don't like the new landscape. Obviously this would only affect football. I don't see what can be done on the hoops front. I have pretty much given up there.

I also wouldn't mind if Georgetown football found a new home. That would free up a date to book a quality non-conference game.

That's difficult enough. I hear what you're saying, but honestly losing a conference game to do it would create more issues than it would solve.

Georgetown not going anywhere.
