If these are the goals of those two sports, what the goal be for football ? Good practice is to set goals that are attainable. I would be very surprised if a $25,000 goal was set without a potential donor or two in mind. And it might very well be that corporations/businesses are the target donors for the higher amounts And the phrasing suggests to me that they are selling advertising on the outfield fence. And I'm guessing that if advertising is being sold, it will be up through the summer and fall. ---------------------------- The virtual seat, fill-the-stadium-with-purple campaign for the @ SDSU game raised about 20 percent of the $100,000 goal. That's understandable, given that the fundraising campaign was spur-of-the-moment. |

Given the levels listed, I would assume the goal for the event is well over $25K |

Question is whether BC is paying Cora for his appearance.
And clearly, HC back in the day wasn't clear-headed about the future value of items, e.g., home plate and the three bases touched by Ted Williams hitting his first home run in a Red Sox uniform.
As for Northeastern, well, their sponsorships suggest either an impoverished alumni base, or a better appreciation of fair value.

BC did not have such a big campaign to name parts of their baseball stadium like UConn did. UConn did it pretty well with Matt Barnes sponsoring the bullpen, a former catcher's family having the stadium named after them, etc... |

I'd be a "punch and Judy" hitter at these prices but interesting that the cost paid to Polar Park for food and facility rental is $100 per plate as only $50 is a tax deductible donation.

But before doing so I started to look at rosters and was shocked to see so many 5th year players at LeHigh. Do they have grad school or allow 5th year players? They should be really good, with Rettig, Rother, Gother, etc Don’t know anything about Lehigh baseball but anyone who was around during the 2020 (Covid) season should get an extra year of eligibility so maybe that explains it. |

Nuff said Not a valid reason in my opinion to see a massive decline in this program. We don’t need to win a national championship, but we do need to handle ourselves like a division 1 program. Huge steps back in on the field performance and alumni engagement. Weakest coaching staff in New England across all divisions. The program would have a hard time competing in any New England division. Bottom has fallen out post DiCenzo and Ed Kahovec certainly is not the answer. The decision to replace DiCenzo with Kahovec is going to have irreparable harm on alumni giving to a sport with up to 40 players on it each year. New coach will be starting from scratch. Very sad. |

Like with all sports-- coaching matters, but there are so many issues with athletics at Holy Cross that are easy to fix and need to be addressed before hiring a new coach. In most cases these issues can be resolved within a couple of months- so we need to move quickly.
Put together a group of current and former players to meet with the AD and Board Athletic Rep, where possible this group should include past coaches and interested alums on what is needed to succeed for the next decade. If Holy Cross isn't willing to make these changes, it should consider dropping the sport as a varsity offering for the school.

A little easier for football players to just take a Spring off, come back to school in the Fall and then graduate at the end of the Fall semester. |

In baseball, we need to fund three or four full scholarships per class- if not restricted by the NCAA or PL. By doing so you have enough money to give a couple of fulls and many partial scholarships-- that can make a huge difference. A similar approach to other sports will improve the talent, coaches ability to succeed, a better product, and an overall richer experience for all involved.
The fifth year is a broader policy conversation, but the simple part is to have the resources for players and coaches and the other issues faced by the different teams.

Baseball used to have a strong alumni group called the Diamond Club. This group had a mentor program, planned events and promoted events like the lead off dinner. My understanding is that AD KH has not wanted any assistance from this group and has essentially pushed them out. The school started their own mentor program called 90-wide for baseball with no communication with the leaders of the Diamond Club. I believe the Diamond Club ceases to exist at this point . Really sad.
