At the holiday break, here's how some other guys who should be getting phone calls are faring this year.
Andy Sachs (Chesapeake CC), 9-3. John Krikorian (Christopher Newport), 11-2 (currently ranked 7th in D3) Landry Kosmalski (Swarthmore), 8-1 (ranked 24th) Josh Loeffler (Johns Hopkins), 6-2 (ranked 17th)

Assumption is 4-6.
Locally, Chris Bartley has been good forever at WPI. Currently 8-1, ranked 14th.

Most important we hire someone that knows and understands all of Holy Cross- and that would include Pitino even though many might find it an offensive hire.
only mentioned because of the strong rumors he is pushing for the job

Why would he leave Iona to go to Holy Cross; isn't Iona a better fit for him? Plus the Umass job was open last year and he could have gotten himself into the mix, but didn't

I’m flabbergasted by these rumors about Pitino. Seems not believable to me

An age group where HC BB still has a little cachet. Why he wouldn't want UMass last year might be because he wasn't disenchanted with Iona yet at the time.

I’m flabbergasted by these rumors about Pitino. Seems not believable to me Pitino sought an extension of his contract with Iona earlier this year and indicated that it didn’t work out…no hard feelings. In June-July of 2019, he reached out to HC (per credible sources) and HC declined to engage in substantive discussions. Posters may recall this because a Crossports poll at the time had 56 “voters” with 28 favoring pursuit of an arrangement with Pitino and 28 opposing it. Now that his extension was not granted and HC may be in the market for a new coach, I wouldn’t be shocked if he reached out to HC again to see if there was any interest. New President and new AD since 2019…different answer from HC? I doubt it…but you never know.

Pitino might look at turning the program around at HC to be the ultimate hoops coaching challenge and being successful would be the crowning achievement of his career.

Add Chris Bartley to this list and limit the search to these five. Any of these men would be great! Forego hiring the search consultant and put the fee saved towards assistant coaches‘ salaries.

Amen, brother
Does it seem that the search firms help you win the press conference rather than the conference championship?

Just read about Josh Loeffler. Very impressive. High academic schools up and down his resume including a couple of PL asst jobs. Head coach for the last 5 years at Hopkins. Lots to like.

Kosmalski sounds a lot like Loeffler although he has been the head man at Swarthmore for 10 years. Took over a 3-22 program and has turned it into a perennial D3 power. I think at one time many considered him to be the heir apparent to Bob McKillop at Davidson. Also played at Davidson.

Agreed He comes here to 3-4 years, reinvents the program them you can get a top of the line young coach to take it to the next level. RP has won everywhere in college. This could be the home stretch for him to go out on top and leave a positive mark on a once storied program.

Maybe he feels largely responsible for the worst era by far in the history of Holy Cross men’s basketball.

I wouldn't overestimate Pitino's capacity for conscience.

Brett may be incompetent (emphasis on “may”) but Ricky is despicable.
Pitino coach the Crusaders? No thanks.

Penn grad, asst at Penn, Lafayette and Navy before becoming a head coach in ‘06. Might like to come home as he is from Auburn, Ma., ten minutes from HC. I’d take any one of the three.

Wonder what Lincoln Yuetter thinks of him. Lincoln's coming off an injury, last 3 games were the first he'd played (18 minutes avg each game). Definitely part of their mix.
