Something that could come up in a HC game in the future.
What I didn't know until tonight was the choice to go on offense or defense is made every before every OT period (by the OT coin toss winner before OT#1, #3, #5 and so on). Always thought that once the first choice is made, it keeps alternating as long as the game goes on.
In tonight's game between Arkansas and Kansas, Arkansas won the OT toss and chose to go on D. When the game went to OT#3, they chose to go on offense. I can see why in a one play format going first would be the way to go, no advantage to going last, really.
And it begs the question: has there been a game where Team A lost the toss, had the ball first in OT #1, the game went to a second OT and it was Team A's choice to have the ball first again?
