I respectfully disagree on his mobility. He jumps slowly and is very slow to react defensively. Also, watch his rebounding. When he gets a rebound, he brings it all the way down to his waist and is often stripped in traffic.
Definitely a "project", but with limited upside IMO.
My apology to Rabs in that case. The two comments are about Wilbar, not Rabs,

That was my freshman year and of course I bought season tickets and also went to dome road games. I recall one game when we were short handed and Buddy Venne had to play out of position in the front court and did a good job. Lots of talent on that team

Buddy was a great guy to watch shoot the ball, and he never stopped moving without the ball to get open Imagine him with the 3 pt line, a 4 pt line etc
KOT72 roommate and a great friend to all
imagine this team with Buddy and Jack Adams

My apology to Rabs in that case. The two comments are about Wilbar, not Rabs, Yes but I said Wilbar had more mobility than Rabs and Sader70 corrected me that he thought Wilbar was slow not mobile. Since I was watching the WBB game during Wilbar's three minute cameo but did see Rabs bleeding purple and being very mobile while leaping off the bench to cheer the team on, I decided to apologize for saying a slow player was more mobile than him. Simple.🤣

We don't have a "Sader70" on Crossports unless he is a lurker. We have "sader1970" and we have "crusader1970" and believe you are referring to the latter, since speaking for sader1970, it is one of the few topics he hasn't expressed an opinion.

I remember back 50 years ago after Kevin Stacom transferred to Providence, Holy Cross had basically a six man rotation and would use Larry Haley (walk on from intramurals?) in that role. Remember Donohue in one of his coach speaks saying that he just wanted Larry out there like a can of peas, taking up space. If I recall , he rarely made any mistakes. Pretty spot on Starters were Grayson, Schnurr, Doyle, Grentz and Venne. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/holy-cross/1972.htmlMalcolm Moulton missed the first several games; Haley and Schone Malliet got time in his absence. Haley was more of a contributor. Then, when Stan Grayson got injured and missed 8 games, Moulton started and Haley played a lot as the first guy off the bench. Or maybe those roles were reversed, can't remember that detail. Backup center was John Budris. A 7 footer, not a player, God bless him. If you had to rate Jack Donahue as a coach, going 15-12 with that roster was one of his better coaching jobs. B I was going to point out that Larry was a pretty good player for us and was great in high school. Strangely enough I was in a local bookstore today and saw a book he wrote about Bob Cousy recruiting one of his friends for BC.

That roster would have been 25 or 26 wins
Larry was a classmate and a very special man
Dated a friend of my sisters in Akron, so spent as much time with him there as I did on campus

Re: Schone Malliett mentioned above—I believe he has to be the only man who played varsity basketball for Holy Cross AND was later a cheerleader for the team. True story

Larry was a good HS player, probably the 3rd best on the team, behind Tom Byron (Dartmouth) & Chris Rutnick (Siena). Those VI teams in the 60's were very good.
