Officiating was atrocious- I expect bad and inconsistent not atrocious - BU’s center travels or charges on every play - the calls got more ridiculous as the game went on - my sense is Bucknell players not keen on Woodruff -his post game interview was not complimentary and he did not make one change during game that had any effect - his players are there now - I would wager he in trouble there

Just watched the press conference, WOW. Last 3 seasons were successful at BU due to previous coaches players. He keeps using the excuse that he has a young team, there are 6 upperclassman, what has he done to develop them? When does the coach take responsibility?

He keeps using the excuse that he has a young team, there are 6 upperclassman, what has he done to develop them? When does the coach take responsibility? It definitely is a young team. The core eight includes three sophs and three frosh. Four of the five starters are sophs/frosh. Team has four juniors - none of whom are really D1 players. Three were Woodruff recruits, and he and his staff did not do a good recruiting job his first year, possibly because none of the four coaches had ever coached at the D1 level. But his recruiting classes since then have been good and they should be a contender for at least the next four years. I judge his recruiting ability mostly by his last three classes, which include a lot of players who had multiple offers from schools higher than the PL. (One note btw is that Bucknell's starting PG, freshman Blake Matthews, was unavailable for the HC game.) As for development, he and his staff did a great job developing Brugler, Ceppi, O'Brien, Shaffer, etc - who all got a lot better after Woodruff's arrival. We'll see how the current sophs and frosh develop.

Then Holy Cross is arguably a very young team as well, Bucknell’s commentator made a few remarks that HC had 4 freshmen on the floor at a few points and HC wiped the floor with BU. 2 of those 4 fresh/soph starters @bu started some or all of the games last year. If his first recruiting class are not d1 athletes why did he name one captain when he has a senior on the bench who is a D1 caliber athlete with better stats. Also, if I remember right Matthews played against HC??? She made a ft after the game was already lost, you’re mistaken. From what I’ve seen, Brugler is the only player that developed at Bucknell, Ceppi was and Shaffer is a role player, and as jstill mentioned above, Shaffer travels and fouls constantly and other than wide open pick and roll lay ups and bail out fouls/fts, she is not remotely effective, it begs credulity why she is a two year starter when it’s obvious she is not a D1 caliber player. she was completely outplayed by Berger and Allen. You claim woodruff developed Shaffer, which I’d argue is not true. however you can’t sell me that he was capable of developing a low level player like Shaffer but not his first recruiting class. O’Brien was a Miss PA basketball if I remember correctly and as everyone knows, probably even on this forum, is a phenomenal athlete and player, it’s unlikely woodruff had anything to do with her success. As jstill mentioned, his players are in place and I really don’t feel like he has the coaching acumen to take an average group of players and be successful. Also, I saw one of the ladies for BUs incoming class decommitted sometime last spring and then committed to Fairfield. What does that say? I think you are overstating that he is a good recruiter.
