Y'all have been snowing everybody all year, haven't you? :-)
That's a great win today, and it definitely got everyone's attention at the AU-Loyola game. See you Thursday for first place!

I hope we defend the back doors better than in the 3 losses last season. Maybe we will play a lot more zone.

I can't remember the last time I was really looking forward to going to the Hart; it will be a real challenge for our motley little crew.

HC haven’t started 3-0 in the PL since 2008-09, FHCRW’s final season.

I've been planning for a while to take my son and grandson to the 1/8/23 Loyola game. I had been kind of dreading it, but I now feel I'll at least see a competitive game.

Massey has AU favored at HC by 4 (68-64) with a 64% chance for the win. Wait. We're favored against a 10-3 AU team that has won 10 of their last 11 and has beaten, among others, W&M, (a bad) G'town, GW, and Albany?? I haven't checked the records, etc. of those teams, but I'd be willing to bet that we'd have gone 0-4 against them.

Ignutz, you quote the post correctly...AU is favored at HC by 4. Then you say we (HC) are favored. Where did you see that??? Thank you, RGS, I did, indeed, read the post incorrectly. That being said, however, based on YTD results of each team, I think I'd take AU and give the points.

The competitiveness of the game will Likely depend on which HC team shows up

Ignutz, I would agree based on the body of work for the year. They are playing with purpose, and their execution has been solid all season. If we defend similarly on Thursday, I think we can take away some of the back door cuts, but if O'Neill gets on a roll, the floor will open up a bit more for them. I think this is a tough matchup for us and has proven to be so over the past few seasons, with few games being close.

Besides their usual strong passing for back doors and inside scoring, this AU team shot 8-16 from three last game (38% for the season, third in PL) Lack of consistent three point shooters was one of their weaknesses last season. Tougher to defend now. They rank second in FG % and third in defensive FG% They are 186 in Kenpom

AU is big, athletic, shoot the ball well (especially their two 6'9" guys Rogers and O'Neill), and are very well coached.
If we go MTM, as I expect we will, AU is going to have a significant size advantage at every position but PG.
Truthfully, if they bring even their B+ game, I don't see how we can compete with them for 40 minutes.
They have wins over Georgetown and George Washington and have won 10 of their last 11 games.
It's going to be very interesting to see if our new emphasis on D can slow down a fine team like AU.
Here's hoping we bring our A+ game and AU comes in overconfident and lays an egg.

Ball pressure… It takes away a lot of options. Double team O’Neill in the post, take him out of the scoring. Make their lower average scorers score.. And make O'Neill defend on the perimeter.
Force the ball to spots on the floor that AU doesn’t want it to go….
Be difficult to play against…

Why bother? We few, we happy few (attendees/eyewitnesses) won't be believed no matter what we post after seeing the crowd. I'll just say there will be more there than we could count on our fingers and toes.

We beat Bucknell when the Bison, typically a good three point shooting team, had a woeful 2-19 night. We beat Navy when we, typically a weak to average three point shooting team, had an outstanding night. Of course, there were many other factors to consider that contributed to the two nice wins, but three point shooting and defense will be important today. Kind of obvious, but important.

Defensive EFG% has been an identical 38.3% in the first two PL games. Only other time it has been under 40% was against CCSU.

Don’t see Louth on the bench. KG just said Louth had surgery on his knee yesterday. Didn’t know that’s what was ailing him.
