Congratulations Gerrale. Well deserved and the first of several this season I hope.
After all the awards DeMorat has accumulated I hope he has more than a cup of coffee in a couple of NFL training camps/practice squads like Dom Randolph and Perter Pujals got. It will be good pub. for the PL if he can earn some playing time in the NFL.

Maybe that's good news.
Our last two Freshman of the Year awards (Pridgen and Luc) both promptly transferred.

And, arguably R.J. Johnson should have been RoY in-between. And he left.
Since Tim Szatko, Holy Cross has had four other RoYs - Nate Lufkin (01-02), Pat Doherty (04-05), RJ (08-09) and Justin Burrell (11-12), none of whom ever made an all-PL team.

But I’d love to have any of them on our current team

(I am always confused by the sentiments expressed on this board about DeMorat and the attempts to undermine his achievements and accolades)

DeMorat threw for 273 yards in his first game at Fitton before 2988 hardy souls in 2018. In 2022, 17,952 pumped and jacked fans saw his last appearance at Fitton.
He's an all time opponent, a part of the HC FB turnaround saga. I wish him well in the NFL. We might not have earned the bye if Fordham had a journeyman at QB. Where would the drama that fueled so much positive attention for HC this season have come from without Fordham and DeMorat?

Guessing he's in the Pujals camp -- UDFA, invited to a camp, released before the season.

I continue to question the logic. Army’s Rucker scores 35 in its one win over Loyola. No mention of other stats GG averages 20 pts, 8.5 rebs, 3 steals, 2.5 blocks, 2 assists in HC’s 1-1 week.

Love to see the Jets grab him - would make a great story.

He’s not a full-time NFL QB at this point though he could become that with another offseason or two of significant improvement in the throwing game. Right now, his best bet would be a team looking for the next Taysom Hill and working him into different positions and a few specific packages.

As for DeMorat, we’ve probably seen some of his worst games so I think we have a different view than others who have seen more of his better efforts. Will be interesting whether he sticks in the NFL.

To semi steer things back, I wonder if Gerrale Gates has even given any thought to becoming the next Antonio Gates?

To semi steer things back, I wonder if Gerrale Gates has even given any thought to becoming the next Antonio Gates? It has been speculated here that he could play football at HC next year. No idea if he’d have eligibility or an academic reason to stay another semester but it would be fun to see.

To semi steer things back, I wonder if Gerrale Gates has even given any thought to becoming the next Antonio Gates? I tossed that one out there a long time ago. I seem to remember some people thinking it was a silly idea. Given his size and athleticism, I wouldn't rule it out. He may feel better playing the game of basketball rather than subjecting himself to the beatings of football.

I'm reminded of the comment of the great Vince Lombardi after meeting Muhammad Ali: "What a shame, he would have made a great tight end"

Would love to see him catching balls across the middle next year. I'm assuming he played football in high school.

I’m betting he did not play high school football as there’s no mention of it in our roster notes or in UNO’s roster notes for the two years he played there.
I did learn that his full name is Frederick Fitzgerald Gates. Seems logical to conclude that “Gerrale” comes from the middle name and was intended to distinguish him from his father Frederick.
