In conference update
Patriot League
Jalen Rucker could make history for Army
Only four Division I teams have failed to make an appearance in the NCAA tournament. Army is one of those teams. This season, the Black Knights were picked to finish fifth in the preseason, and although Tucker Richardson (15.5 PPG) and Colgate look strong, Rucker -- a first team all-Patriot League preseason pick -- could elevate Army to success in the conference tournament and win his squad its first automatic berth and NCAA tournament appearance.

Army has had a beyond futile record in the Patriot League tournament.
ZERO tournament championships (obviously) ZERO appearances in the PL championship game
They have also only hosted a semi-final twice in league history. Once in 1991 and again during our "5 games in March" run in 2016 when we held them to 12 points in the 2nd half when they couldn't buy a corner three against our 1-3-1 zone.

In conference update could elevate Army to success in the conference tournament and win his squad its first automatic berth and NCAA tournament appearance. They could. That's a long way from they should or they will Gotta say something new and creative about a conference. Harder when you barely pay attention to it

Mentioning American would have been better. I thought Brennan should have been fired after last season -- after beginning the season ranked #299 by Pomeroy, they're up to #187. Their 57.5% effective FG% ranks fourth nationally.

Technically, there are more than 4 D1 schools who haven't been to the Dance, with the additions over the last decade, but I assume the writer also includes Bill and Mary, The Citadel and UNH as the other 3 who haven't been?

I can think of a new team that can be removed. Bryant went dancing last season. Somewhat forgotten because they did not make it to the round of 64 to be potentially picked on all those pools

I believe that Army, The Citadel, St.Francis of NY and William & Mary are the only 4 that have been D-1 since the first tournament in 1939 and have never made the tournament. The other 39 or 40 have not been D-1 for the entire period or are schools formed after 1939.
Note: bfoley82 is fond of coming on this board and tweaking HC for all manner of purported shortcomings or failings, including just recently engaging in badinage with other posters about HC not having a “real” NCAA tournament win since 1953. Might I point out that UNH has never made the tournament and has been a D-1 school for at least 70 years. I mention this not to denigrate UNH but to suggest that it is ironic that one of its alums would come on our board and needle us about our NCAA tournament record (13 appearances, 8 wins, two Final Fours and 1 NCAA title) when UNH has never participated let alone won a game.
I have several questions for Mr. Foley: 1) Do you spend as much time reading and posting on the UNH board as you do on the HC board? If not, why not? 2) Do you spend as much time reading and posting on the boards of any schools other than UNH and HC? If not, why not?
If the answers to Qs 1 and 2 are “no” and “no”, I would respectfully request that you provide posters on the boards of other schools with your special brand of cheer.
Lastly, having been a poster on this board (or its predecessors) since 2003, I don’t perceive most of the posters (alums or non-alums) as being HC slappies who are unwilling to recognize problems and/or criticize HC and its athletic programs where they feel it is warranted. However, I think those comments or criticisms are better received by the posters from someone who has some acknowledged “skin in the game” on a particular issue (e.g. student, parent, alum, administrator, season ticket holder, fan of an opposing team vs. whom HC has a game or league relationship [e.g. bison 137 or bfoley82 when HC is competing vs. UNH]).
Of course, as a registered poster, bfoley82 can continue to post as long as he does not run afoul of Dean Wormer’s guidelines. I simply would ask him to share the wealth with others. In the long run, fewer posts may engender greater acceptance and positive responses to the ones that are made.
