There cannot be too many, if any, players in the country who lead their team in: Minutes points, rebounds FG% and blocks, and are second in assists and steals.

Just checked in one likely to compete, Oscar T.., of Kentucky, the returning Player of the Year He leads his team in points, rebounds, blocks and FG%, but none of the other categories.

GG has shown up every night, through a torrent of losing, and played hard. He often plays against players bigger, and takes a physical beating but gives as good as he gets. There is much to admire about what he's done the last few years.

Zach Edey (Purdue) and Drew Timme (Gonzaga) are right there.
If you want two mid-major studs, check out Jake Stephens (Chattanooga) and Josh Cohen (St. Francis PA).

Note also that Gerrale is having the best 2pt FG percentage season of his career @.509

Cohen is very good, SoV; have seen him a couple of times now.
What I love the most about Gerrale is his no nonsense, old school approach to the game. There have been many times when he could have gone up for a big dunk, followed by the usual gyrations that we see all the time. GG just kisses it off the window. Love how he is so patient with his moves as well. I'm really curious as to who may have influenced him when he first started playing.
Just a shame that he couldn't have come along during better times for the program; he deserves better.

On the other hand, maybe he happens to be the right person at the right place at the right time? Want to imagine this team without him?

Maybe it is the right time for this team, but if he cares about winning, which it certainly seems so, it is not the right time for Gerrale.

Update Has there ever been a Crusader who has led his team in minutes, points, free throws attempted, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and FG% ? (Kenney actually slightly leads Gerrale in FG%, but Caleb does not have enough attempts to statistically qualify.) Amid the losses, let us not fail to appreciate what Gerrale is accomplishing. A long proud HC hoops history, and he may be having a season for the ages.

Trying to think of other great HC players who toiled on losing teams; first name that popped in my skull was Jim McCaffrey.

Trying to think of other great HC players who toiled on losing teams; first name that popped in my skull was Jim McCaffrey. Good comparison. Jim missed quite a few games in his senior year due to a high ankle sprain and the results were ugly (including a loss to Assumption). Life w/o Gerrale unless there are some bigs added is not something I'm looking forward to.

Minutes - yes Points - yes FTA - yes Rebs - yes Assists - no (Butler led team) Steals - no (Butler) FG% - yes (both 2 pt & 3 pt FG %)
He had two "stinker" stats: worst FT % at 58% and 106 turnovers (3.5 a game)

I don't think he was discovered only a month ago. I feel like the NBA Power Rankings have been calling the worst teams, "on Wembanyama watch," for quite a while now.
