What poll? That stinks if really #6. Recollection was that we were #5 going into the playoffs and got screwed with a #8 seed. Are we supposed to be happy that we finish higher than the seed? After playing the national champs closer than the #3 seed who has historically been the national champs more than any other team.

This presumes that we would have been undefeated in CAA play. Not an easy proposition. This discussion seems to be about football only. One sport of many. The PL may be working for many female and some male sports. Our lack of success in many sports has little or nothing to do with the PL.

HC fans understandably have whined about the team's #6 ranking in the final FCS poll. However I think Alabama has a bigger complaint. TCU ranked #2 MU, OSU round out the top 4 with 'bama buried at # 5. Ridiculous!

HC should be ranked top five, 2023 pre-season poll.
Incarnate Word and Sacramento State will drop because their head coaches left. So SDSU, NDSU, Montana State?, HC? #5?
Fordham was ranked #16, so the PL did well in the final poll. (UNH ranked #15.)

Given our relatively soft FCS schedule next year (to be honest), we’re going to need to beat Army to grab a seed. (Assuming heavily favored BC beats us.)

HC will not be taken lightly by BC or Army. The days of sneaking up and grabbing a win against an FBS opponent are gone. The FBS schools will be primed and rarin' to go. Also HC will have a target on its back in FCS games.

Right now the computer rankings have them as a 5 point favorite if we played today.
Unless something very positive happens to the BC program during the off season, I don't see any reason to believe that the betting spread will be much above 5-8 points.

I think that we could get a seed even losing close games to Army and BC if we absolutely thrash all of our FCS opponents. While I agree that BC will be better than this year and favored, I don't think that it will be "heavily favored." I think that there has not been a sufficient body of work to be confident that Morehead will succeed.

Fordham was not helped by its schedule this season. Nor were we.

Agreed, given our FCS schedule this year, almost identical to last year, I went with the general assumption the strength will be about the same. (I know one shouldn’t assume).

BC is an ACC team and we are a PL team. Even if they are relatively bad and we are relatively good. I’ll go with ‘heavily favored’ until I see otherwise.

I'm having a tough time trying to figure your logic between your two comments.
First, the strength of schedule will be a lot more difficult. Of course the schedules are similar because that's what happens when you are in a league. The non-league FCS games were scheduled well in advance. But we are playing 2, not 1, FBS teams. We are trading off Bryant and Buffalo for BC and Army. I don't think there is any school in the country that changes many more than 2 opponents from one season to the next. This will be a much tougher schedule but Chesney & Co. are up to the challenge. And, frankly, a much higher visibility schedule. Buffalo may be FBS but Army, even when on a down season is nationally known. BC also known nationally being in the ACC. Beat one and hopefully both and we've got a great seed assuming we don't fall on our face in any of the FCS games.
My prediction: if we stay injury free with our key players, we win the national championship. That, for me, is what I see as the biggest challenge. Injuries are inevitable but serious injuries among our key players like Matt, Jake, Coker, and our starting linemen could scuttle the season. "Next man up" only works short term IMHO.

Note the word ‘agreed ‘ was a reply to a direct reference to our FCS strength of schedule. And that sentence continues to addresses strength of FCS schedule. And the essentially identical FCS schedule (Merrimack, Harvard, Yale plus PL) this year. The second snippet is my opinion of our chances v BC. Two different things. (BC and Army are FBS, BTW)

And I can't remember the last time BC was in a truly close game against an FCS opponent. Maybe UMASS in 2007? That being said, this is THE YEAR to throw the kitchen sink at the Eagles. Like potential once in a lifetime chance for those of us under 55 to see us beat BC in football.

The younger folks here probably would find it hard to believe when some of us were atop Mt. St. James, Holy Cross had the winning lifetime record against the Eagles. FWIW, we still have the edge in basketball.

The class of 67 saw HC go 2-2 vs BC The best record for a class since then ?

The class of 67 saw HC go 2-2 vs BC The best record for a class since then ? Class of '79 went 2-2 as well. We actually came very close to winning 5 in a row against BC from 1977-1981. Lost 27-26 in '79 after being up 26-13. Lost 13-10 in a tight game in 1980 and lost 28-24 in 1981 as we couldn't quite punch one in in the end.
