Trivia question: What do coaches Schuertz and Nelson have in common? Answer: they both filled out the bottom of their rosters with the same big. NAD You’re correct. Only one of the two has moved on…the one who was criticized on this board for panning the departee’s performance. Coincidence that ISU’s performance has improved this year? To a great extent, probably yes. In looking at the ISU roster, it looks like they had a “transfer portal rebuild”.

From Day One I have been baffled by Nelson’s offering scholarships to Wilbar and Tse-don’t see how he thought those were good moves

Both kids only have 1 year left after this season so it doesn't have a major impact on recruiting.

At least one of those two's got a lot of heart, not much ability, but when you're only playing 7 or 8 guys (or less than that due to this or that injury), toughness helps a lot.

I fear we have become a men’s hoop program where any coach has to think long and hard before applying for a head coach vacancy. Another reason to offer "opportunity" to a D-2/3 head coach who has confidence he can duplicate his successful program building at HC, and might not be as cagey in calculating his career path as a veteran D-1 coach. I've noticed the fellow from Nichols hasn't as of yet duplicated his success at Assumption (6-11 this year or something like that). Don't think our next head coach is coming from the same place as Chesney.

Rabs bleeds Deep Purple. Louth is on crutches recovering from surgery. Wilbar, TBD.

Just looked and he’s not on the roster so I guess I answered my own question. When did that happen?

You have to think Wilbar is in some kind of disciplinary/quit team situation or is ill- if you go on a two game road trip and play in the first game, otherwise he'd have been on the bench in street clothes.

Wilbar is listed on the roster..My guess is he was ill..LOTS of flue, RSV, and upper respiratory virus illnesses going on right now in the Worcester area....add covid to the list... Urgent care, emergency rooms and Dr. offices are inundated with patients...My wife and I were there....

DiMarz, you're telling me that I better go back to wearing my mask Wednesday night then? That has been suggested! SOOO much going around! Urgent care wait times are in the hours! But with students still not on campus, I'm going comando...(Maskless!!) We do wear masks in church!

First you must believe a mask offers a medical benefit and not just a psychological advantage

The Tufts job is probably better than HC right now.

I watched the Tufts vs Hamilton College game yesterday. Coach Linton is a very good coach, who has Patriot League experience of five years as an assistant at Army. Would understand the challenges and culture of recruiting at an academic rigorous institution. Should be high on the radar for HC when the position next opens.
In mentioning Tufts, it brings us to a Holy Cross Alum, who is a former Coach at Tufts, Rodney Baker. Should have been strongly considered and hired at HC considering our most recent candidates and their level of success. He would have been endorsed by Coach Blaney. Oh well! A lost opportunity that would have had us on a better path over the last decade.
Another candidate that should now be on the radar is Glen Miller, currently head coach at the University of St. Joseph, currently ranked #1 in D3. Glen was the former Head Coach at Brown and Penn, as well as Associate Head Coach at UConn. Was on the same staff as Coach Blaney at UConn. Believe he was originally recruited by Coach Blaney as a student to come to HC.

Glenn is a great guy, and is very good in home visits with players and parents

When he was head coach at Brown he achieved something that no other Brown coach had accomplished in the history of the Ivy League, which was to win a road game at Princeton. I believe it was a 56 game losing streak. But he was not able to replicate that success at Penn.
