I've noticed the fellow from Nichols hasn't as of yet duplicated his success at Assumption (6-11 this year or something like that). Don't think our next head coach is coming from the same place as Chesney. The other fellow from Nichols that followed him is 13-3 and 2-1 in NESCAC play at Tufts. The Tufts job is probably better than HC right now. How would you know you haven’t watched an HC game all year. Your comment is a joke D3 is not better than D1. Sorry

Miller was sub .500 at both Brown and Penn. I think he’d certainly be an upgrade but probably not the person who is going to give us the Chesney-like turnaround of which we dream.

I thought the Tufts job better than HC comment was hyperbole. I suppose if longevity is the requirement you could make that argument. I disagree. I don't follow NESCAC enough to comment about Tufts, but there are plenty of schools (especially in the lower divisions) that do not put emphasis on excelling. Don't get in trouble. Don't embarrass the school and you're set for life. If set for life without excelling is the goal, fine. We should have kept Coach Brown and been happy perennially in the middle of the pack with an early exit from the tournament. In my opinion a good coach has some competitive fire in his belly and wants to win. We all talk about Coach Chesney moving on, even though he could be set for life at HC (or even Assumption). We talk about it because competitive people want to win -- the bigger the stage, the sweeter the victory. A reasonable person from D-II or D-III could shy away from HC thinking it's a career killer. However, anyone thinking that is only worried because they're looking to climb the ladder. For what it's worth, the basketball coach at my high school has been there for over 40 years. While I think it's a great high school job, I wouldn't say it's better than HC either

Really critical game and stretch for HC.
We are still in the thick of things at 3-3 (tied for fifth), but with three of the next five games on the road and one of the home games being against Colgate, certainly wouldn't shock me if we went 1-4 over this stretch.
Will Dorsey play tomorrow? How is Octave's health? Will Nelson be in the building? Louth? News at 11.

I suspect neither would a win. We’ve seen wins against very low ranked teams see the rankings go down and this would likely be another of those cases.

You do that at HC, you are likely fired. There is a reason the NESCAC jobs rarely open up. What is it?

He was on crutches at the last home game..He sat behind the bench..and he made a great one handed catch of an errant pass!

Somebody in the Athletics Promotion area is doing a good job....Wednesday night's game against Colgate is "Dental Awareness Night!" Gave me a good laugh when I realized this.. It brings me back to the 70's team that had Igor (My avatar) as a "cheerleader". He would dress in costume for each home game, playing on the opponent or the date. Christmas he was Santa, play an Ivy team and he was covered in alligators, Valentines Day he was Cupid...Those were fun times in the Hart Center!

Igor certainly made the time outs during mens game interesting and enjoyable for HC fans, and a source of intense antagonism to our opposition, especially his dance, apparent incantations to the other team and occasionally to the officiating crew and the fan chants to accommodate Igor. I still remember Chris Potter stealing and scoring on successive inbound plays under the basket by Lehigh during the Friday night game of January 16, 1976. It was Winter Homecoming. Igor certainly put the whammy on Lehigh that night. 84-60. The following night, which was dedication weekend of the Hart Center, HC beat BC 84-83 to complete a Winter weekend sweep. The following year against Colgate on Feb 4, 1977, Chris Potter again showed increased pressure on Colgate preventing their ability to inbound under the HC basket. The team could use his incantations this evening against Colgate.
Was hoping after Igor graduated in 1978, there would have been a successor to pick up the mantle and the antics. Hope somewhere there is film of his appearances, along with another great entertainment group that appeared several times during that era……The Bud Light Daredevils.
Men’s Basketball games at Hart were entertaining and exciting then, events that must be attended…….now it feels like penance for past transgressions. 🤣

The last 12 or so years have been a bit like going to the dentist. I do hope the little Crest gift packs they're handing out contain some mouth wash, as all the losses over the years have left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the coaches have been working hard to try to get to the root of the program's problems....maybe they hashed it out over lunch in the Canal District. Big opportunity tonight; an upset would be a crowning achievement in CBN's head coaching career so far. For me, I'm just hoping the boys don't get drilled by the Raiders - if they can keep it close I'll be pleased. Ok, I'll stop before my old 6th grade teacher comes here and dishes out his favorite form of punishment: making me write "I must learn to keep my oral cavity closed" 100 times on the blackboard. I only have one real question for tonight: the first 200 fans will get the Crest gift packs........will they have any left over?

We have scored over 70 points once in six tries in PL games. Colgate is 6/6 eclipsing 70 points.
Difficult to see this one being close, especially with a hobbled Dorsey (should he play) and Octave.

Is it considered taunting to hand out Crest gift packs since Crest is probably the biggest competitor to the corporation Colgate?

Yes, it would. Before your time, somehow on campus, there was a large, professional looking box of toothpaste before a Colgate game rally that made its way into a Purple Patcher. Believe it was for a football game though. Can't remember playing Colgate much, if at all, ion basketball in those days but definitely football.

Hope that Dave starts a chant tonight…..You, You, You…..Brush with Crest, Crest. Then everyone holds up the gift pack. That should throw off Colgate at a critical moment. 😊

Anyone remember this jingle? "Brush your teeth with colgate, colgate dental cream. It cleans your breath, what a toothpaste, while it guards your teeth."

They were part of a 2 game swing every other year in the mid 60s until 1973; game at Syracuse preceded (or followed by) a game at Hamilton. Then, maybe a game every 3 years until we ended up in the PL with them. They were one of Blaney's inaugural season worst losses (Colgate, Dartmouth and UNH were all neck-and-neck for that dubious distinction).
