It is a bit premature, but GG’s play of late warrants some inclusion in this group. The center spot is by far the weakest position in HC history. None of the best teams had a dominant 5, unless Kaftan was a center. So it is appropriate to put Gerrale with the other very good centers. Doyle K. Hochstein(if GG is a 6’5” center, so is a 6”3”/4” Keith. And,like GG, Keith scored most of his points, close to the hoop) Sankes Whearty The Floyds ? Ernie, Jehyve. I guess some could argue Dudzinski, but to me he was a 4. Malcolm Alexander ? Good, not very good. Any other nominees ?

Basketball is totally different today than even five years ago...Centers aren't that important anymore.

How about Big Tim Clifford— pretty solid center
Malachi not Malcolm-likely a typo
AK34?

I just call them bigs, and I sort of define that as someone who has to spend time defending in the paint, and provide some post up scoring as well (in addition to being a primary rebounder).
When you consider he has virtually no other size around him to help, he certainly has to shoulder a very heavy load, and that alone puts him right up there with the others as far as I'm concerned. I shudder to think of him being gone next year....yikes.

I understand that the terms big and wing have replaced numbers like 2,3(wings) and 4,5(bigs), but that really broadens the field to HC all time greats who could shoot from distance as well as score in the paint: Siudut(rip) Potter Even Jack the Shot played mostly the 4. Though the word power (forward) would not be used to describe the Weed.
Schnurr Kissane I am sure many posters could add here.
I forgot Clifford, as well as Chris Logan, as 5s.

Gene Doyle who I think was actually a center. Also probably better than everyone else mentioned except Hochstein.

Clifford was a 5 who started with poor footwork and evolved to one of the best PL bigs... league leader in blocked shots, and able to step out and hit the 3 at the top of the key. That's what good coaching can do for development.

Clifford #8 all-time at Holy Cross in field goal percentage, #4 in games played, and #1 in blocks.

I obviously do not know how the season will pan out, but Gerrale currently leads the PL in scoring, rebounds by more than 2 per game, and is second in minutes played. He also is tied for his team’s leadership in assists and leads in field goal percentage, steals and blocks. How many players have these accomplishments ? Yet he most likely will not be the Player of the Year. Hopefully. first team all PL
