Ran out of steam tonight losing 4-1 including an empty net goal - very chippy game and even the coaches exchanged words after the game

Lost 4-1. SHU definitely much better than us. Need to keep improving but there are at least signs of life in the program.

This atmosphere (as long as it lasts) is going to carry SHU - quite remarkable for an Atlantic Hockey school

This atmosphere (as long as it lasts) is going to carry SHU - quite remarkable for an Atlantic Hockey school It was definitely impressive. Arena is nice. Connected parking so you don’t even need to go outside once you park. Concessions probably could be expanded as lines were crazy with a near-sellout crowd Friday. We’ll see if they can maintain the interest. Definitely a huge student turnout on Friday. If they can keep getting 1500 students at every game, they’ll be in business.

That seems terrible though maybe more lucrative if they can sell season tickets with mandatory donations attached for those seats.

A far cry from the Milford Ice Pavilion back in the day. (the same day that HC Men's Hockey used to win 20+ games in a season) Bravo SHU. Best wishes in Hockey East.

SHU will take the high road (H E.), we'll take the low road (AHA) and we'll be in the NCAA afore ye. I hope.

Sounds like you are more interested in seeing HC's opponents than in following our Crusaders. I have attended several hockey games (both men and women) and the energy is palpable. It is generally a fun time that you might want to try.

A good question is which would draw more: An HC team at or near the bottom of H.E. or an HC team in or near first place in the AHA?

How about watching HC vs BU in a game that is meaningless for HC in the H.E. standings as well as the Turnpike Trophy standings or watching HC vs AIC with the AHA auto bid in play?

Well, AIC has won a NCAA game more recently than BU, BC, Northeastern, UNH, Maine, Vermont and Merrimack. 🤪

There is so much more to a sport season than an auto bid to the NCAA tourney where in all likelihood HC would get bounced in the opening round. To answer your question I would probably vote for the AIC game.

I would like watching the game that is the best game played on the ice. That being said, I love going to top-tier Hockey East games for the atmosphere and high-level of hockey (programs shift a bit--I remember watching HC beat BU the year after I graduated and then a one-goal loss a couple of years later. The HC-BC game from a few years back and HC-NU games were pretty epic. Right now, BC isn't playing that well but any win against BC is appreciated.
Right now...BU is better than AIC. BU has a better atmosphere than AIC. If AIC was better in a given year (think a couple of seasons ago), I would appreciate that game. For me, this debate is a bit about semantics. Some will find HC vs. BC or Army in football more interesting than HC vs. Fordham/Colgate/whoever is finishing 2nd to us next year.
No matter what...I want to make the playoffs. I am not going to be content with a .500 season even if we beat RIT and AIC that season but fail to earn the auto-bid in the playoffs. We have not won a league title since 2006. Will the new building at SHU help draw recruits such that SHU, AIC, and RIT (maybe Bentley considering they have a fairly new building) elevate the league from a 1 bid league to a 2-3 bid league? I don't know. I still think that HC men are better suited with recruiting to win games in HEA right away than the women were a few years ago. Let's keep building the program and do something to our rink. (like turn it into an "arena"). Then I'll worry about auto-bids, who I'd rather play, etc, etc, etc.
