What is his degree from Yale Law School and how is that different from a JD? Yale Law School offers a Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) degree program for a small number of non-lawyers who seek to obtain a basic familiarity with legal thought and to explore the relation of law to their disciplines. It is a one-year terminal program designed for those who do not desire a professional law degree, but who are interested in a rigorous curriculum and grounding in legal studies.

Holy Cross used to have the "Holy Cross Institute of Industrial Relations" or a very similar name. It was an evening program that taught labor management relations for working people in Unions and management.
My father's buddy was a Federal labor mediator who would negotiate settlements of strikes, and an HC graduate. He taught there. It was active in the 1950s but I'm not sure when it ended. For years you would see an obituary in the Worcester T&G of someone who was a worker at one of Worcester's many Union Shops and it would list his work and labor achievements and a very proud mention that he was a graduate or certificate holder from the Holy Cross Institute of Industrial Relations.
I think most of the former students are gone now. It shows that HC has been serving the community for a long time.
