Our goalie, Friers was excellent in the 1st half - not so much in the 2nd half and you have a 14-9 final Not sure why we schedule Syracuse but they're next up on Saturday

Including a 28-5 rout over HC - i know that you know there’s a huge gap between where we are and where Cuse is at any time

Syracuse only won four games last year.... We are one of the worst teams in D1 lacrosse, BF. I didn't say it. Some of the clears against Providence were horrific with passes of 50-60 yards trying to be made. They are not going to win many games at 77 percent in clears.

I don't know much about this sport, but seems like passing and catching is important. We struggle in that department.

Terrifyingly overmatched. As SOV notes, plenty of unforced errors.

Syracuse is obviously a lot better than we are, but we can limit unforced turnovers by our goalie not throwing behind the back passes out of bounds.

Scheduling philosophy… it’s a meaningful game in terms of preparing for Army and Loyola and recruiting to attract kids because we play the best… skill level has improved.. they have a huge class arriving in the Fall. Coach R is one of the best and if he can get HC kids, with more scholarship $, we can move from the bottom to middle of PL… until fully funded with a better lax complex (porta potties… and no concessions) harder to get the number of kids to get to the top of the league— which is top in the Country outside the B10 and ACC (and IVY).

I don't mean to be a wise guy, but we heard the same things with Judd Lattimore and Jim Morrissey. For a minute, it actually looked like we were onto something around 2015-17. Getting this program to respectability would be a nice accomplishment by ADKH.

The 2019 team was 7-7 and 4-4 in the PL. One of the best teams in program history. That was with 2 scholarships. Best record since joining PL. the 2020 would have been even better and were 4-3 before Covid shutdown. That was 3 ADs back, the least amount of funds in the league and perhaps the worst outdoor facility. I am just highlighting facts. Go online and look at the lax/soccer facilities at PC, Bryant, Sacred Heart, Qunnnipac, Fairfield (for example) from the other similarly funded, private Northeastern schools. There is a much more realistic prospect of competing on a National level in lax than the other sports offered at the College. If the money that is pumped in BBall and Hockey was allocated to lax, which would have the school competing at the highest national level — which cannot be said for any other program — the on the field results, national exposure, increased donations and applicants would follow. goholycross.com/documents/2023/1/24/All-Time_Results.pdf

Much more realistic game next weekend at Mercer, who lost to Bucknell 20-6 and then UNC 25-3.

The school attracts full paying, academically qualified students and high level lax players. Not the elite players like Cuse or Duke, but very good players (see the past all league players (Farrell and Conklin) and #31 on the current team). A few more $s and the outdoor facility improvements that are planned should move the needle.

Yeah, it seemed like we were on the fringe, NJ, not long ago.
Beat some top 10 teams like Loyola and Army in 2015.
From 2015-19, we were 16-24 in the PL. Doesn't seem very good, but those are some serious strides after winning either zero or one game (Lafayette) for most of our history in the PL.

A 40% winning record achieved with 2 coaches/AD changes, no increase in $ and only an 18 month window with the new indoor facility (the locker room was a heated trailer during construction). I doubt any of the other programs performed better in the PL during that 4 year stretch.
The boys improved over last season. It takes time to turn the ship, but it is turning…

As a Long Islander I’ve seen very familiar high schools represented on our roster over the years. But it’s not the best kids at these schools. Those top kids follow the money or go Ivy (and that can be strong aid money too). Sooo, offer some cash and the better players at those same schools will come. (There is one top lax kid from a strong LI lax school actually at HC … he’s on a football schollie. )
