How about if they build a freestanding building behind the stands on either side that has elevators and contains a modern press box and some "Luxury boxes" at the top? It wouldn't touch the stadium and would accommodate ADA needs.

Possible, but very costly I am sure.

Hopefully PVR will be unveiling the new Campus Master Plan this afternoon at the 4:00 PM meeting.
Has there been a leaks regarding the presentation? Or does HC has its own plumbers to ensure information is not leaching from Mahogany Row and embargoed before it’s time.😊

Possible, but very costly I am sure. We are playing a grand total of four (4) regular season football games at Fitton Field this year. (Merrimack, Colgate, Laffy, and Georgetown.) How much money is too much money to spend when we are talking about a VERY rarely used (and IMHO ugly and outdated) campus facility? I don't even think we practice football there.

The berm for I 290 is very tight next to the stadium. I took a close look after the New Hampshire game. On that side of the stadium, I would like to see the HC team locker room facilities expanded, but there could be a present day issue with the flood plain and Army Corp approval.

Try to get Army Corp approval before Veterans Day. They'll be in no mood after we beat them at Michie Stadium.

Foley judges an entire institutions value on their media amenities but for four games a year the basics are fine with me.

The visual aesthetics of Fitton facade are lacking, but the sighting and view of the field is incredible! It would be improved and nicer if the facade could be enhanced either with brick or with banners, particularly on the Garage and McKeon Rd. side. The concession boxes also could be updated without triggering ADA issues.
I now sit on the I290 side of the stadium to enjoy the crowd reaction on the home side. The Yale game was memorable, especially the Coker to Purdy TD surprise that caught Yale napping. The reaction from the home side when Ayir Asante scored on the two point conversion against Fordham was deafening. 😂.

Could it be time to envision a new HC stadium encircling beautiful Fitton Field? Replace the aluminum with a lovely brick u-shaped structure, with archways, seating for twenty thousand, modern bathrooms and concession stands and lights. This structure would fit in with the classic New England college brick buildings on campus. Never gonna' happen.

Probably not...but it is fun to imagine. I can remember standing on the old banked wood track looking down at Fitton (way back in the mid-1960s) and trying to imagine how it would look with brick, arches, indoor locker rooms, and meeting rooms. It would be quite a sight.

It would be quite a sight. I grew up in what I call the "had video games but still played outdoors" generation. The NCAA football series used generic stadiums that somewhat matched the real thing for the 1-AA schools (bowl for Yale, horseshoe for HC, etc). In some years, you had to actually create the 1-AA schools. I remember using Central Michigan's horseshoe with an upper deck on one side for Fitton, but really wished the exterior would look like Ohio State with the brick arched facade, etc. Would putting a facade up trigger the ADA? I like the banners covering up the grey aluminum siding on the field level.

Wow---Fitton Field "Ugly" ? I think it's a classic To be fair, I described it as "ugly and outdated". It certainly is a testament to the sheer durability and utility (if not aesthetic appeal) of 100-year old concrete and steel. How much money we'd want to spend adding a new press box or putting in ADA modifications or elevators or locker expansions (given the VERY limited use, etc.) is another story.

IIRC, BC offered their old press box to HC at the time of the 1986 upgrade. Approaching 40 years now, need to consider major upgrades by the 50 year mark.

The field is beautiful, the stadium not so much. However, it is cost effective.

Forty years ago, playing in the Big East would have paid for many infrastructure needs, but a different decision was taken, and today we wait for someone to write a big check. The Big East would have offered us the opportunity to put the current gifts into the endowment and guaranteed a great future for generations--
But we are where we are, which is not a bad place; just going to take much longer to get the buildings and innovations on campus.

I like the banners covering up the grey aluminum siding on the field level. I had most of the EA Sports games between 2003 and 2006. To my memory Holy Cross wasn't actually in any of those games -- you would've had to create HC. For whatever reason, the Patriot League wasn't included amongst the I-AA conferences featured in any of those games. I used to play as William & Mary and remember their stadium looked semi-close to accurate as did Harvard and Yale. The first couple versions that added limited I-AA teams included the Ivies and HBCU only. Then by '04 or '05 I remember they added I believe the Gateway, A-10, Big Sky, SoCon and Southland teams. Was too early for the Dakotas to have been incorporated as they were just moving up at that time -- so no Fargo Dome. I remember playing with Holy Cross basketball in the NCAA hoops games in the mid-to-late 2000's. One night we played a HC-Bucknell game and my hallmate scored 75 points with John Griffin, the PG from Bucknell back then. I remember he messaged John on Facebook to tell him the story and he responded back super excited about his virtual performance. Freshman year we would've been playing with the 05-06 Crusader roster. I seem to remember Kevin Hyland was an absolute monster in the video game as was Kevin Hamilton...and Keith Simmons was very good, but believe it or not it was almost impossible to get him to be able to dunk.

Glory days of video games. Kids today don't know what they're missing. I had an HC roster with something like D ratings and took them to an Orange Bowl before building up a dynasty and moving to the ACC from D-1 Indy. My RA who was an '09 played as HC all the time on those hoops games. One thing I forget is if all coaches were included in the game. Flannery would have been a sight to behold.

Because if you've actually been in and had to work in the Fitton Field press box you'd be embarrassed. What is embarrassing about it? That's what hasn't been specified by Foley. I'm figuring it's a three-four hour workshift for a handful of people four times a year and thus can't justify a huge expense to replace. I am embarrassed if a handicapped person can't climb the mountain to get there but hope HC makes workplace accomodations for those folks on ground level. I'd build them an elevator if it was possible/feasible.
