Terrific article! I conversed with BC several times. Always nice, pleasant and laid back. Shame that HC caught him at the end of his career, and while his wife was ill, as that obviously had a big impact on his coaching at the end.

"The night of March 5, 1996, was unlike any other in Princeton men’s basketball" [when Princeton finally beat Penn, in an IL playoff game, Stabler Arena, Carrill's last IL game]
Really enjoyed reading about Bill Carmody, thanks for posting

Everyone here should read this article - happy we had such a genuine guy at the helm of our program for a few years and after giving so much to the game, he deserved that magical run in 2016

Great Article. This kind of sums it up for me:
“He has by far the best basketball mind I’ve ever been around,” says Thompson, who played for Carril, is the son of a Hall-of-Fame coach and who coached Georgetown to the Final Four. “He gets the most out each person. He can make adjustments and adaptations in any situation. He gets the most out of each person. He knows their strengths, and he also knows how to make them fit into a team concept to make the team better. He’s brilliant at it.” I believe that is what he did at Holy Cross.

Glad you guys enjoyed the article. Jerry Price is a terrific writer. A question--is the Ed Reilly mentioned in the piece the Ed Reilly who is the AD at Worcester Academy?

Bill was there at Jadwin Gym last night, along with Sydney Johnson, JTIII and several other players and coaches as the University honored those members of the 1996-98 era. He looked like he really enjoyed the evening.

Bet he had a lot more fun when he was at Princeton than Holy Cross. Not only coaching but his beloved Barbara was healthy there. She was a wonderful person and a great fan. R.I.P., Barbara.
