I kind of like the Ivy Tourney format of the top 4 finishers make the tourney which is then played in one weekend. I don’t know if the site is based on who finishes first but I am guessing it is. It certainly makes the regular season more meaningful.

The site was predetermined. This year is at Princeton’s Jadwin.

It’s the only ‘basketball’ league either M or W to do it Advantage to the Tigers if the chalk holds up and they play Columbia in the finals

Big difference there is the number of teams in that baseball league as opposed to hoops. Hard to see the hoops schools changing the format.

It certainly makes the regular season more meaningful. The site is predetermined and hosts BOTH the men and women at the same site. The women play Friday and Saturday. The men play Saturday and Sunday.

Big difference there is the number of teams in that baseball league as opposed to hoops. Hard to see the hoops schools changing the format. I brought up Patriot League baseball as an example of an NCAA sport where not everyone goes to the conference tournament. There are other examples, though as you say, I can't think of any others in basketball. It should be noted that it is not that many years ago that there was no Ivy League basketball tournament and the regular season went dancing. I think a bigger reason for the baseball difference is that it is frequently a 2 out of 3 instead of a one and done, format. Probably because no one wants to see a mediocre low seed with one stud pitcher knock off a top seed

The league schedule was a bit different this year, as follows:
*Instead of six Friday/Saturday doubleheaders, which had been the tradition for several decades until last year, there will be just three such weekends. *Every other weekend, there will be a single conference game played. *Games against travel partners will occur on MLK Day and the final weekend of the season. For the MLK Day game, if the team played a home game on that Saturday they will be on the road MLK Day (and vice versa). With their lack of manpower, HC would have most certainly be better served by a similar schedule.

Speaking of Ivy, Yale came back from 21 down in the 2nd half to top the Tigers in OT before 2,600 in Jadwin. Just a terrific college game. I look forward to the tournament. Will be interesting what kind of crowds turn out since tickets are not cheap.

Mathematically the only team eliminated is Columbia.
