Saw the subject and was wondering if we were hoping for an invite...would Sweet 16 be a reach?

Just a few minutes from Loyola, down W. University Parkway, Josh Loeffler and his Johns Hopkins team are getting ready to host their first-round game. Found an interesting clip of Loeffler breaking down on film his decision-making in a game where Hopkins trailed by eight with under five minutes left. Lengthy, but worth a look/listen, I think.

loeffler would be one of the most desirable of the many instant upgrades.

Here are the same guys talking with Landry Kosmalski. No film breakdown, but some good insight into the way Kosmalski thinks.

Chesapeake College won its final regular season game tonight, its eleventh straight victory. Andy Sachs' team is now 26-4, and ranked 13th in NJCAA D2 entering next week's Region 20 Tournament no doubt about it... sachs can flat out coach. if he isn't my top choice, he is darn near close to it and my confidence in this program would be rejuvenated immediately. i don't know enough about this aspect of the business, and maybe the concern is unfounded, but parker concerns me if they are involved. can those who are more familiar enlighten me... do they prefer assistants and others from big name schools (with whom they likely have lucrative financial relationships) or will they scour the chesapeake colleges of the world for better fits? perhaps it's the indisputable and complete corruption of medicine and public health by pharma/government/corporate media seeping into my more general world view, but i hope we go any direction but the sean kerney/brett nelson "name school" - but completely unproven commodity - route this time around.

I have no experience with coach search firms, but I have to think that they are unlikely to take any risks and have a goal of winning the press conference more than finding the right coach. They should provide their clients with the list of all the coaches they have recommended and placed and the subsequent record of those coaches. That way the client could see just how good the search firm is. If I were the AD I'd want to hear not that "We have worked on major searches for Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc" but rather "Here's a list of all the coaches we placed in the last 10 years and you can check their records".

#5 Keene State (28-1) beat Tufts, 77-72, and advances to the Sweet Sixteen where it will meet #7 Swarthmore (26-3). Landry Kosmalski's Garnet put a 101-78 beat-down on St. John Fisher, shooting 40-70 (17-33), 28 assists, 42% ORB%.
After barely surviving upset in the opening round, #2 Christopher Newport (26-3) started sluggishly, then pulled away from Hampden-Sydney, 72-59. The Captains held H-S to 31% from the field and dominated the boards, 51-26.
#11 Johns Hopkins (25-4) over Hamilton, 81-71. Hamilton took twenty more shots and made eight more, but Josh Loeffler's Bluejays were +26 from the line (31-39).
And unranked Nichols (25-5) continued its Cinderella run, beating #16 Middlebury, 73-66. The Bison have now won nineteen straight. SoV has tossed Brock Erickson's name into the mix - his bio . . .
Williams lost big to one tournament co-favorite,#4 St. Joseph's (CT), and Scranton lost big to the other,, #1 Randolph-Macon.

I did not bring Kosmalski’s name to the board years ago (was it SOV who did?) but after investigating his career I have been promoting him ever since. While i’d love to see us sign him It is encouraging to hear that there are a number of other proven program builders to pursue.

Swarthmore post-game - discussion of Keene State (which knocked out the Garnet in the first round last year) starts about three minutes in. Kosmalski on last year's loss: " [Their] game plan was the best we've ever faced."

Keene State at Swarthmore, March 10th, 7:15 PM. A good break for the Garnet, since they host this sectional - that said, they lost to Keene State at home in the opening round last year.

Not based on any info or specific coaches, it would just seem much easier to get a coach to move from Keene State to HC than from Swarthmore to HC.
